You spoke about expectations you have for yourself and your poker results, being results oriented. If you expect to win. All the time, you out that much more emphasis on your results checking them everyday, and if you lose, it affects you so much because you had this idea in your head that, you deserve or expected to win. Now that you’re in a down swing it’s more emotionally tilting.

Learning to let go and being present removes your emotions from the equation, you have to live with it either way good or bad, but sometimes, during a downswing, you have so much more to learn about yourself, what your doing wrong, mistakes in hands your making, lines your taking.

Think the same approach is just as important when you’re on an upswing, being cool and calm, collective, being present in the moment. Accepting of the outcome whatever it may be.

Yes, in Basketball Kobe Bryant once said about Stephen Curry (the greatest shooter of all time), he is a killer, he is never up or down, always even keel, always calm and collected.
When you learn to be more even keel, you will be able to learn more accurately as well, because you will see clearly what is going on, without your rose colored glasses

Yeah, exactly, however. I know how detrimental downswings can be to you mental game, I see players, sometimes every time I play with them. Seems like they’re losing thousands of dollars playing poker, every single session or week, and in my mind I’m like wow how can this be financially good for this person. But it’s not in my place to ask or question where they get the money to lose all the time.
I think another important point, is if you’re not happy now with yourself, with the stakes you play, or the bankroll you have, would you be that more happy with yourself if your bankroll was 10x the size? The journey is something to enjoy,
“Oh I’d be so much happier if I was playing higher stakes, or if I wasn’t so unlucky” lol
Though, if you lost 90% of your roll, how much more unhappy would you be as well.
I think it’s a bit of a recipe for disaster as well, where if you win your happy and if you lose your sad.

Like, let’s say for example, player x wants to make 1m dollars playing poker, as a goal right.
They have 500k to their name, they go play a big game, and lose 100k so now their bankroll is 400k. I’m sure that is super duper tilting for that player, and really tough, their bankroll just took a huge hit right.
The the next day, shouldn’t be to ohhh I need to get back to 500k today … it should be okay, what can I accomplish today, in my routine, that will help me execute better and perform better at tables. What goals can I achieve today.
And that’s hard to do! But I think important.

Yeah, you gotta bring consistent effort if you want to get somewhere. Stopping or letting yourself be crushed by something that happens along the way, will not get you there. This of course assumes that you want to really get there.
