This is great!! It's the first of your videos I've watched and going to watch more, this already covers several of my weak spots. Maybe you could point me towards specific videos of yours that would be extra suitable for me.
I struggle with:
* In hands slipping out of focus on strategy and instead just using my brain to worry about losing or hoping to win.
* My tilt/C-game is ~never spewy but rather becomes a worry driven weak tight thing
* Being very harsh on myself for mistakes
Hey Teratologen thank you for the praise, glad you found something useful.
Given that I have a lot of videos, I will try to recommend some mostly by title, based on what you wrote.
But also you have to see what emotions do to your ability to think and act rationally and why it makes no sense to fear or worry about something.
Not just intellectually, because that is kind of easy, but this is about your core beliefs.
You worry, because you believe something. What is it that you believe and that you are not willing to change. What is it that has so much value to you, so much importance, that you will worry to the point of not making solid decisions anymore?
A few videos I can think of.
Presence
Trust
Stillness
Letting Go
Slow Down
Substract
It doesn't matter
Confronting Fear
Inner Path, Outer Execution
That which did not happen
Watch Your Language
Living on the Edge
I think for now this can do the trick, I talk about similar topics in many videos and often give slightly different perspectives on them so that everyone can find their own way in them.
Hope this helps, glgl
Teratologen that is a solid approach, as when you don't yet know how to do some things or think about them, hearing the concepts from different perspectives is like studying vocabulary for a language and you gain a little bit of extra until you start to understand sentences and then later be able to form your own, in this analogy that would mean that you learn to see your own beliefs and values and where they are hijacking your desire to make rational decisions or even live a more fulfilled life, by understanding a little more how to look at things and understand them for yourself, how they appear in your life
The section "Facing that which you are avoiding" is pretty inspirational. As I've been recently struggling with my fitness progression.
I tried to push myself with my squat result since May but just stuck at the same level ever since, and lately I've been just pretty frustrated about that since there's some cycles of me "trying to lock in - put in the work - failed - repeat".
And now that when I don't see the result for several months, like you said, I try to avoid the pain and what used to be an exciting agenda now becomes my pain :(
That is great.
Here is why I am not saying I am sorry to hear.
Because all you got is feedback that it is not working the way you want it and you need to adjust.
For your specific issue I recommend, either a deload week or two, or change exercises, do squat variations, like single leg, hacksquat, leg press.
Figure out where you are weakest and target that spot with a different exercise and perhaps don't squat again normally until you have like 4-8 weeks of training like that under your belt.
The issue is partially there because you want one very specific thing and you are not willing to face the things that cause you to be stuck, so you need to take a look at the weak points and address those.
When you have the problem that you cbet 100% of your range on all boards, you don't go back to your preflop ranges and adjust those, you look at how to cbet properly on the flop.
The issue is partially there because you want one very specific thing and you are not willing to face the things that cause you to be stuck, so you need to take a look at the weak points and address those.
This is crucial! I will try to follow this idea and tackle the issue :D
One question -- how to you solve the motivation issue due to the lack of progress? I understand that it's a long process and we need to adjust our mindset. However, the training is just naturally not as fun as back when I can feel the progression.
The unsatisfying and deeper answer would be to not attach your motivation to outside factors such as progress and results (which progress is, a form of a results).
What you focus on, will be what you see, when what you see is not motivating you, you need to find a way to look at it differently or look at something else.
However most are not willing to go this hard on letting go of all worldly things, so the slightly more satisfying answer there would be, to not attach your motivation to just one type of external factor, such as progress, but also others, like the joy of having gone to the gym (which you will not always feel, I know, but that is mostly because deep inside you, your value system and feedback system is still anchored in you wanting a specific, viewable, feelable outcome).
As you know sometimes things are slow and it is hard to see what actual progress happened, so you need to adjust your way of looking at it.
going to the gym is progress, even if you have been consistent with it, because it will give you the feedback that you are continuing your work.
Another thing is, looking for different types of stimulous, like perhaps a pump, due to higher reps, or going to failure on a specific new exercise (other than the squat).
So there you could for example create the mindset before the gym, alright, today I will try to push harder on exercise X and go to technical failure, or slow down my eccentric and emphasize the stretch position and when you have done that, you acknowledge that you did this and that you accomplished what you set out to do and what was not super easy.
Poker related.
Sometimes in poker it will feel the same, you are stuck, unable to use a new concept or play in game and when it finally shows up, you have been on tilt and were unable to use it.
So you need to break things down into smaller components that you look at and train those.

Disclaimer
These are just some general ideas, check in with someone that is close to your situation and knows their field to make sure you don't do anything that will hurt or injure you. Sorry, for that one, just saying, I do not know your specific situation or anything and others read this as well. Please always make sure you are safe.
Amazing! Thank you for giving out both unsatisfying and satisfying answers.
To look at value system and feedback system as a whole is a more holistic way of seeing this rather than "change of mindset" I have right now, very nice!
So much wisdom to digest here, I'll make sure to follow those advice and keep you updated in a few weeks time.
Truly appreciate your help, thank you again Chris <3
Hey Chris -- just wanted to give you an update after roughly a month!
By changing the mindset - I keep reminding myself "slow is smooth and smooth is fast". Instead of keep chasing the result (1RM) - I completely throw that out of the window this month and start to work on accessories - flexibility/core strength and posterior chain.
I haven't got the chance to test out if I improve in terms of the squat, however, I feel happier when training and I think that's what matters the most. I find the training satisfying again.
Thanks for your advice! It's really difficult to shift the mindset and rough to implement in the first half of the month, but when I keep telling my mind "it's okay", it just starts to get used to it.
Hey mx404 that is very cool to hear, you are welcome !
It is very difficult to overwrite old patterns, it requires constant doing of the new thing and returning to the new mindset when we fall into old patterns.
We fall into old patterns mostly when we do things too fast, because then we do not think about what we do and our default comes through.
Which is why presence is so important in your life.
Glad to hear about your improvements, keep it going!
That's so right! To me, it's mostly the mental laziness that causes me to fall back to old habits/patterns - since I don't need to actively think about the goal/adjustment.
But since I get to realize it right now - being conscious and drag myself back to the new route will be the most important thing to keep in mind :)
Those are some fantastic questions to put out there and answer for yourself in such moments. They might help you make better decisions in the now and in the future

Great, I'll just listen to all of them, let my brain soak in it.

Chris,
Another great video. Really enjoy the way you present the information/advice in your videos.
Thanks Chris.
