Reminds me of a thought I had the other day
Do you ever have days when you play poker. Like you could
Win a lot of money… but be really upset with yourself in one spot that you played or one hand that you messed up?
Or like get absolutely wrecked and lost x amount of buy ins, but be happy with how you played because a lot of the decisions you made you would
Make them again lol
From what you write it seems you would like to feel like that to some degree sometimes do, but you still care and focus mostly on the results of a session.
Perhaps not all sessions will mess with you, but the ones, where you lose a certain specific amount of money, hours or hands.
Ask yourself,
in a session where you got wrecked but played really well.
Would and should you make the same decisions again in another sessions, if you did not know the outcome?
I think it is in a way still being results oriented. The most important session is the next one. Because we can’t do anything about the ones we already played just learn from them. Sometimes I’ll joke about a monster hand that we lost with while ahead “ahh well I guess I could fold pre flop” knowing full well I would never ever fold pre flop lol
Think it’s easy to be hard on ourself as well. Oh we lost this hand we must of played poorly. Oh we won this hand we must of played it great. It isn’t always like easy and simple.
Think it’s important as well, after the sessions we play to understand why we made the decisions we did with the hands we played in the spots that we were in.
chris i love your videos thank you so much it is really helping my game and my life as well. it is really making me take astep back on everything and look at the big pitcure. i listen to your videos on my walk everyday thank you again and please keep them coming sir
TRUEPOWER Yes, reflecting after a session, not just the bad ones, but all sessions is useful, especially if you have a tendency to only look at certain aspects and get lost in dreams.
But also important not to overdo it, find your balance.
Some people can handle more adversity than others, find out what you are able to handle and see if there are some things you can work on.
Zooming out is very important and can give you more perspective on what just happened in the this or the last few sessions.
