"Improving down" (39:10) also known as "reducing" your tri. These Doyle's game cash mixed are great for demonstrating badugi errors (Sklar and Alberto made a bunch as I recall).
9:50 I know if you have a playable hand but there are 3 overcards behind you then limping can be an option. However, with only one of our cards out and only one overcard behind, wouldn't it be better to complete to have the opportunity to rep an overpair or 3 flush?
17:00 I'm not sure about the positions, but if doyle bets and lamb were next, how do you feel about a raise from lamb, or if lamb checked and doyle bet, a possible xr from lamb? He has the nut low draw and could liven his high hand.
9:50 - I think Gordo's plan is generally viable here as his hand is very marginal and won't fare very well facing heavy action behind, however I do still prefer raise here largely because of the game structure - limping for $500 is already half a small bet anyway, typically at least in MTTs and when I played $1/2k limit live in the past, bring-in is $300. So here we limp for 50% of a bet rather than 30%. Given that, I find the limp option less attractive and it seems not worth splitting our range here with only one overcard behind. If he had (J7)7 instead then limp seems better to me.
17:00 - Doyle was button here, Ben limp called UTG preflop (good play IMO). In this instance, xr would've been an amazing find by Ben and would've won him the pot (assuming Frank folded facing 2 cold with KK and Doyle didn't find a way to steal on the river). I know I would have found it very difficult to range Doyle accurately on this hand, hard to say how often A5 is ahead for high vs him, but certainly an interesting idea and worth serious consideration going for turn xr here IMO.

Appreciate you continuing to make mixed content!
