To take notes might be contra-productive :D Many players you play against will watch this videos and then probably try do do more often the opposite of what your notes are telling :)
More rake is actually better Sauce! (sorry, this is a oldie by now but still a goodie =)
You make the best training videos and have been for so many years, you are just so entertaining and easy to follow along with. I think it's the relaxed humour, feels like you are talking aloud like this during your normal sessions as well xD
Hand at 24:03 with 8c8h, facing this flop cbet size obv our range for continuing narrows quite a bit. I assume our only worse hands by river besides 88 here are some AQ/AJ with a club/dd and 7c7x? Not sure if you peel 22-55. I also imagine the way that solid regs would structure some bigger bets here otf would be to have a Q in hand pretty often. So when river completes flush do you think 8c8h should mostly be bluffed? His timing and lack of turn bet kinda feels a lot like Qx too as you mentioned. I guess some really creative players can check jam some Qx otr but feels like most just end up folding. You said you thought you were allowed to mix bluffs on that runout but didn't want to and I guess I'm looking for more of your thoughts on why.
Would also be cool if you had part of a video going over these big sizes that aren't used super often by the population on similar textures and whether you and PIO think they're good.
I think your analysis is spot on. I ran a sim here and it looks like PP+blocker should be bluffed around 25% of the time. I probably played the spot OK, iirc I rolled a medium high number like a 65 or something.
Just joking, obv very good video. Beside the strategic content, I find quite remarkable how do you enjoy the game, I mean, people play poker like a battle but you make something fun out of it.
Well, yes, poker should be taken as a battle and be played seriously, but it easy to forget the fun part... gladly you dig it up.
Best of luck with your other things going on in your life
I went into this video wondering if Ben was going to keep trolling with the rolling high every hand bit that he's been running the past 10 videos, and first hand boom!!!! Haven't watched the rest yet but keep rolling high my friend!
Why aren't you going for hard exploits? You have mentioned that you played around 50k hands here already, but a lot of spots you just choose to play your approximation of GTO(saying that your hand is a mix, means you assume opponent is doing what he should to make you indifferent). Is that because you don't know opponents tendencies in such spots to deviate? Or you don't want to show full exploits in the videos? Maybe it's time to trust your gut more after 50k hands, surely players at this limit are at a disadvantage when they play Sauce, however rusty he is.
In your liveplay videos I find very little insights anymore, maybe it's time to focus on concept based videos(they have been some of your best work, toy game series, Triple Threat, etc). I'd love to see more psychology/philosophy based theory videos from you(triple threat for example) or your take on 'how to be a poker player(series Lefort did). Videos of that kind would be much more enjoyable to your viewers than bunch of mixing at 500z. Especially given your background as philosophy major.
If I wanted to see what hands are indifferent I'd rather work on PIO than watch your live-play videos. I merely consider these entertainment at this point. It would be more interesting to watch you play 200 zoom than 500 zoom where you at least would be forced to go for hard exploits(like you did in this video vs recs). Or maybe make some HUNL videos where the shifts from equilibrium are more grand.
I don't like exploiting all that much. I've noticed my long term results are best when I'm tweaking my mixes by some % based on my analysis of the player/situation, and are worse then I try to dramatically change my strategies from GTO.
It seems overconfident to me to argue that's a bad framework, when it's the framework that's most common to the very best players in the toughest games. Seems possible to beat the biggest games being more exploitative as well, and it also seems possible to beat them doing almost no exploiting at all.
Ben, my concern isn't if this framework is valid to beat the HSNL. Though I'd like to see more max exploiting being done because these 500z games are playing very far from NL5k.
My main concern is the value to the viewers these live play videos provide. In the midst of action very often you mention which hand is indifferent, rarely mentioning why or if you do it rarely is an in-depth explanation(due to the nature of limited time). As I said earlier, as someone who watched almost every single one of your videos I believe there would be more value to your viewers if you focused on concept/theory videos with CREV/Solver or perhaps philosophical videos about what's it like to be a poker player in the modern world.
I remember when you made a video where you decided to focus on playing 3b or fold strategies, live play video with specific goal of execucting particular type of strategy GTO or exploitative. That was lovely to see.
Now we just watch a retired pro who tries to estimate GTO strategies in real time, yes it's fun because it's you commentating poker! But this should be a training site with a purpose of educating it's viewers.
You seem to have reasonable but unrepresentative ideas about how the site should operate and what videos you'd have me produce. The main metric I'm given is how many likes my videos have; the live play ones seem to do well. Some of the theory ones do great, and others less so. I agree theory videos are important and over time should be around 1/4th of my videos, and even many of my live play videos include Pio work at the end where I go into more depth on how a particular hand should have been played with the aid of sims.
Sauce you are a superstar! All your videos are well liked! I understand what you mean however that my ideas are not representative and that my opinion probably doesn't matter.
I also want to express how incredibly grateful I am for your production of the content all these years. You have been one of my biggest influence over my poker career up there with Will Tipton and few other guys! I am sorry for a certain tone in my original post, I guess I was just a bit disappointed of the static nature of your videos we've been seeing over last year or so(live play ones).
I just wanna say, even tho I understand atown36's points, that I don't think the videos are not instructive at all. I really enjoy the live play videos, and seeing the execution of an aproximation to GTO strategy is very diferent from looking at the solver. Also you do seem to go for exploits from time to time. And I think when you add the pio review at the of it it's even better. Just to give a diferent feedback from what was given cuz I don't exactly agree with it.

I do kind of talk to myself while playing lol. My wife is not as happy with the behaviour as you are !
mmm bro is crazy lol

Is there any argument for calling river with the J8 given you're blocking nut straight and 88? If this is always a fold what's our calling range?
