16:50 Bottom left on 2K9K board

“King turn, I does not really expect him to bet ever, if he does its a little bit weird”

I see your reasoning not betting on A5ss since its hard to get a better hand to fold.
In my experience OTT some regs have a betting range of Kx XXspades JT,QT some even 9x. A check calling range of AA,QQ,JJ,TT, Ax spades even 22 make sense to put in the C/C range to make the calling range a bit stronger. Iam not really surprised at all when I meet a bet OTT. So my question is: Why are you surprised by this and how do you like to play out your range as M4ximillion OTT and OTR?

The reason I'm surprised when people bet the K turn is because it is very difficult to rep very much value with a bet. You are repping KKK+ which is just not a lot of combos at all. This is why most people, including myself will often check their entire range on this turn.

For the betting/checking ranges you've suggested my initial reaction without doing all the combos is that the betting range will have too many bluffs and 9x will be too thin. The checking range will be somewhat weak and tough to play as it doesn't have any hands that are a slam dunk check call twice.

Parker do you really think that opening sb 33% in unopened pot is way way too much like u say in the video? I am pretty sure that you are wrong here. I have talked to some very succesfull mid stakes regs and all of us open 40-50% from sb. 30% has to be too tight against most bb because people are not defending enough. I have also checked my database and most regs open more than 40%. I could be convinced that opening 30% against the best regs is ok, but you certainly ca not be tighter than that. Can you tell me what is your sb open in a decent sample of hands? Just started watching so I ll give some additional comment later.

Hey Dado, could you give me a timestamp? I just want to listen to exactly my wording on the situation to see if I agree.

But no, I don't think that 33% is unreasonable from the SB. But I think as you approach 40-50 it definitely begins to be too much. Having said that, I completely believe you that it can work against people who are overfolding their BB. However if you try to open 50% vs me BvB, there will be hell to pay. Well not actually, but I will make your life very difficult by having position and defending a lot.

The hand starts at 6.00 when you defend QJo on bb vs sb open. Could you still tell me your sb open, because i really doubt that it is smaller than 33%...
Against you, I would probably open around 30%, definetly not less.

Ok thanks for the answers Parker, I don t know, I am still of the opinion that opening 25-30% is too tight... Parker I also went back to opening 2,5x OTB and I feel that it is really effective, have a feeling that it really tightens bb s flatting range a bit and it makes the game easier. You are right, most good regs defend enough to MR now. What is your opinion about opening 2,5x again, are you gonna keep this sizing?

Anyway, good video, keeo up the good work!

I did like 2.5 on the button a lot as I discussed in the video. Lately I've been playing some tougher lineups that have made me want to return to min though as I am getting 3bet quite a bit with the bigger size.

Hey Parker,

very good video again. Your videos are one of the main reasons of my subscription:)

The last hand (begins around 50:30). You have 96s OTB, and you defend vs a bb 3bet. I like it a lot, how the hand went, though for me the size of the cbet wasn't as obvious tell as for you. I guess it's too big, does it make look the hand more bluffy? I know that around halfpot cbet is the standard, every deviation from it could mean that something is wrong with the play of villain? And would you have called the river bet without hitting 2 pair?

Thanks

Parker Muir 11 years, 3 months ago

That is actually the standard cbet size from this particular player, but I do agree it's too large and doesn't set up stacks correctly. That is true though, that people will actually tend to mis-size their bets more often when they are bluffing, than when they are going for value.

River is close without hitting 2pair. Of course it depends on the card, but I think it will mostly be a fold.
