Enjoy your video. I would like to get a range from you what hands should be defended from the small blind after a raise? Are hands like QT and JT out? Also, iwhat exploitive strategy are you implementing? Is your goal just to bloat the pot with your big hands by betting larger, or is there more to what your doing by the lines your taking in these hands? Lastly, do you think that you could gain some value from playing some of your hands a bit more straightforward, for example, add some leading into your betting frequencies? Ty
In the small blind against a raise vs anything over a 2.5x sizing i will 3bet or fold my entire continuing range. This is an easy to implement strategy. I don't want to write down my exact ranges but i would say a general rule of the kind of frequencies would be 1/3 of the opening range of your opponents position. The main purpose of this is to play the pot heads up and push the big blind out from realising their equity.
Changing your bet size depending on the situation and opponent is going to be very important at the micro stakes where the pool is large and population in general will have many more weaker players that do not adjust their continuing range vs changes in bet size so larger sizes with strong hands will be the most profitable play.
I do think leading makes a lot of sense in river situations where your hand improves on a card that is a scare card when you are against a recreational player as they often do not thin value bet rivers and will check back strong hands when for example a flush or straight gets there.
In general i think its best to use larger sizing and tighter range in high rake environments. If the opponents are not 3 betting enough and/or overfolding then you can open wider and in that case ill use a smaller size trying to take advantage of their passive tendency
Really enjoyed this video. I was wondering about the AA hand on the top-left table at 8:49, what do you do if villain 3bet you on such a wet board texture? Do you always 4bet and/or call in that spot or do you mix it up? If you 4bet and he shoves, do you call or fold in that spot and why? Cheers!
First I look at my opponent and see if i think they are capable of bluffing reasonably often. If the answer is no then i only continue with hands that have a lot of nutted or immediete equity like flushdraws, two pair, straight draws and sets, or hands like AcQx which has the two pair outs etc.
If they are capable of bluffing i still follow the same rule but defend a bit wider. Basically you want to defend the "top part of your range" as when the additional bet goes in you are allowed to fold lower parts of range. So i would still continue with the aforementioned hands and then also AA, KK. Vs a nit i think you can just fold AA KK no club this deep. I am going to have bluffs here on the flop such as AJ which i would just insta fold.
On his preflop range not is obvius T9s, 98s, 87s and more often hands like 55, 66, 77, 88, 99, TT, JJ, suited broadways and strong broadways off like AQ, maybe AJ KQ.
Your line from preflop to the turn is std but on river vs overbet? he got poker or full house and a big bluff range enabled. i like his overbet and we dont block Q,J and spikes, so AK is one of the best bluffcatchers.
9:38 AJo: Why some small 3bets? Again at 11:55 with A9s and at 20:25 J9s. Is it a population adjustment?
20:25 J9s: When you bet OTT did you had in mind that if he calls you were going to make this overbet or you were just trying to fold his draws and then realized that you could make the overbet OTR? I’m asking cause I too have these ideas when I play (what I mean is that i make the bet OTT already planning to overbet OTR on a blank) but sometimes I feel that maybe if I keep making these plays I play too aggressively.
Hey - Small 3bet still applies pressure to an OOP player as well as pushes the blinds out of the pot v often. We can do it with a wider range if we risk less ( because we have deeper SPR vs a 4 bet/risk less to win the preflop pot).
J9 hand is kind of exploitative betsizing. I am just reading into villains range and on these very draw heavy board textures I think strong hands mostly raise flop or turn and villains generally don't like making big call downs vs triple barrels on A high boards in 3bet pots.
Hey. I use a version of a well know HUD ( not sure its name) that I edited myself extensively. I basically rebuilt all the popups. You can MSG me about it if you need it. Cheers
Hey Iain at 32.00 mark you fold 33 to UTG raise - why is that? I see so many good players folding small PP - but can't figure out why that is. I am wildly profitable at 10NL calling 22-66 IP - would love if you can clarify it. Thanks
Hey, the problem here is that when we cold call really wide we risk getting squeezed by a big raise from the blinds. This probably happens much less at 10nl!

I find that sometimes you opened 2.2x, sometimes you opened 3x. I want to know what it depends on? Hands or position ?

min 11:50. AKs 3bet preflop from SB vs MP.

Why fold?

Which HUD are you using ? I've got PK4 and am playing on Stars is it possible to get my stack to be in bb aswell?
