27:36- Should we x the flop vs sb at a decent frequency with As in consideration/pot control? Compared to vs bb you'd be thrilled to cbet always with As6c. Thanks and great series.

I don't think the As plays a huge roll here relative to the strength of our hand wanting to get value/protection. That said, we're pretty much always less excited to cbet against SB than BB

Hi Chris,

2:28 - what are you bluff c/r in this spot?

2:52 - what type of hands are you 3 bet bluffing from the BB here?

Apoth 7 years ago

2:28 I think we pretty much always want a spade with preference given to a high spade (the J or Q) and then something else. Having the T to block TT would be a pretty nice bonus but you'll have to use other combos as well because a) JsT and QsT isn't enough combos and b)Rarely does Pio ever create bluffs around one specific card (when it's not the nut blocker for example) because if our bluffs always contain a T that lets villain use anti blockers to gain ev. So it might be the case that we can justify bluffing w/ a lower spade than Q or J when we also have a T (Like Tx8s) but don't need something else when we have Js or Qs. Everything is going to be super mixed in this spot though.

2:52 We're quite deep here I think you can wait for better hands than that one. Stuff like suited connectors and such make the obvious candidates.

You have commented several times about how regs have a tendency to over c-bet some boards. Using node lock and locking 100% cbet frequency on the vast majority of boards does very little to our EV. Am I missing something?

Apoth 7 years ago

I don't know exactly how you're quantifying "very little" but it's certainly a decent strat in some spots.

I guess all I can really say is that those small edges you're giving up add up and I don't think the difference is trivial in a lot of spots/

James Romero 7 years ago

If 100% cbet can be proven to not effect our EV with node lock, it could be beneficial because we are

A) inflating pots vs weaker opponents

B) Carrying an organized range to the turn (100% of our opening range)

???Thoughts???

5:30 - i think there are only a few worst combos against we can get it in on 2 streets... do you like to sthrengten our ch-back range on the flop with hands like this??
30:30 - on this river how would you construct your range against a HS reg and against a middish reg?? do you have some block bets? I dont know how to play w my 9x, JJ hands...
33:00 - in this icm spot you have only limping range on the sb against agro opponent?? With shorter stack you play more limps /30-40bb/?

Apoth 7 years ago

5:30 I think KJ is just strong enough to mostly want to bet, but some checks are reasonable. QJ/JT/9x/TT are mostly going to want to check I think.

30:30 We probably want 2 sizings + a check here. Something small like a block and something bigger as I mentioned in video. The value hands mostly go where you'd expect. The bluffs are trickier to figure out imo but some time in pio will help show what's important/goes where.

33:00 yea I expect to only limp here given the ICM is insanely strong due to the extreme shorties
