i believe on monotone boards villains range is going to be more polarized than on rainbow boards. eg. having a flush or air. big bets vs a polarized range don't perform too well.
18min, x/r with 63s isn't too wide to keep bluffing this turn? I think your valuerange is quite nice, but 2d open up different type of bluffing opportunities( all diamond backdoors better bluffing combos) and this one being close to worst FD(some reverse implied odds)
Yeah in other spots I would just x/c this combo, but as explained in the video i think I’ve got a clear 8x advantage here so my semi-bluff makes sense. I have all 8x suited other than 82,83 & 84s. UTG just has 78s, 89s & A8s. Neither of us have any offsuit combos really.
And different kind of question. You mentioned during video that not flatting much from BUvsCO, how would you combat overly 3betting strategy. At lower stake(200-100) many regs don't flat from Button and only using 3betting strategy and some clearly doing it out of line (SB/BB rather tight with cold 4bets). So question is, how you advice to combat those aggro 3betting strategy players?
+ to add, I've noticed bot(plibirus) flatting AK/QQ/JJ/TT from button at %, maybe that's good way to protect agaisnt sqz from blinds.
Strategy options are to 4B more, and call wider and then look to x/r at a decent frequency given BTN is going to have plenty of weak hands.
Pluribus played in a no rake environment, i would assume it would play very differently with the same rake structure of zoom.
I’m actually moving to a more strict 3B/fold strategy in all positions due to rake and also so im uncapped in all spots and can apply pressure to opponents. It’s going to mean I may have to fold some strong-ish hands preflop, but overall it may be a better strategy.
It’s important to remember that no single strategy is correct, it’s just getting to grips with how you want to play (using solvers to support strategy) and then be consistent in applying it, and understand when and why to move away from it to exploit opponents/pool trends.
nice video. it is refreshing to see a coach making a video of the stakes that he actually plays at and is beating. there needs to be a clear out of coaches on this site because why would I want coaching from somebody playing a stake that they can't even beat?
also props for sharing your results for the year so far, we need more transparency like that. and even if your WR is a little lower than what you are aiming for it is still better than what the vast majority of poker players would achieve.
Question re the 63s c/r BB vs LJ - why favor using this combo vs if it was BB vs BTN? Seems like you are up vs a stronger range - sure LJ has less 8x but so do you relatively speaking.
Gary Chappell on the end of the video you say you kinda move away from looking at ppl stats and try to exploit and now instead you use random number. any reason for that? i would thing that a real GTO random number generator is looking at a player stat and "randomizing" aka exploiting according to that..... the only reason i see for using a random number generator posflop is if all the regs on nl500z play the same and having the same stats and frequency's.. !?
yeah it was kind of a broad statement, and what you say is correct. in the past ive never used an RNG, and just made intuitive/exploitative decisions based on instinct and tendencies of opponents. but now players are getting better and less exploitable, i want to reach a far better all round game and avoid being exploitable myself. against a lot of regs who play solid, i will use the RNG to balance the ranges i've got, but still adjusting to other players. eg if someone is opening a tighter preflop range, then mixed hands may be randomised into a 3B range at 25% freq, not 50%.
Hi, Gary Chappell - Great job running good on that last big hand with QQ vs the AKs =D I wasn't paying quite as much attention as I should have, but it feels to me like you were using a strategy that involved a high amount of cbetting on a variety of boards with the smaller cbet size. Do you often use a larger cbet size on certain board textures or do you opt for the smaller size mainly? I am trying to get a handle on when the small cbet size is good to use vs when a larger size is better and I'm still a bit foggy on this. Any help is much appreciated!

Nice video Gary. @25:30 what's the reasoning for smaller c-bets on monotone boards as PFR just in general? Whether SRP or 3BP. Thanks.

Thanks mate, appreciate it.

mentioned above - huge 8x advantage, which is why i'm going to x/r most of my draws as i feel i can get decent fold equity.
BB v BTN ranges change hugely and the 8x is fairly neutral, with BB having a few more combos, but not a drastic advantage like in this spot.
Ah the size was small wasnnt it. For some reason thought it was 3x but it was not you opening.
great vid gary.
i would like to know, how can i also get this RNG?
its through starshelper.
hi chaps. can you share your default RFI ranges? thanks
think you can see from my videos what i do and don't open in certain positions. obviously some adjustments/mixing involved as well.
