20 : 00 ! He will call a shove with AK ;)  I'm sure he gonna call a shove! He invested 21 bb pre

Simon Couling 10 years, 10 months ago

I agree he would 4bet call AK there, but with his super-super-tight cold 4-bet range I honestly didn't expect him to have this in his value range with the fish in the pot. Against an extremely polarised range sometimes we are better off calling the 4bet pre and not folding post. Its a good balancing spot and we have position so cant go too wrong post flop.

At approx minute 5 on table 1, what are your reasons for not value betting the TT otr? I don't play in any full ring 6 max games online, but assuming villain's range for opening the HJ is similar to 6max games, he should have plenty of lower PP, and MAYBE some 87s, 89s, 8Ts that he can bluff catch us with, no? Additionally, like you said, we almost never beat, and I imagine we have pretty much near the top of our range otr once we take this line.

Simon Couling 10 years, 10 months ago

Yeah he does have some 8xs that might possibly call the river and 99 might call. On the flip side he can also bluff-catch a weak Jack. In hindsight it is probably a bet simply because we are so rarely losing so but nitty and overcautious on my part.

Is it me or there is something really weird with sound in this vid? Keep hearing some weird sounds + ur voice gets so low sometimes.

@12:46 u fold TT there, vs that type of player what would be your calling range?

@20:00 when u get cold 4b by that guy, would u also trap with aces there because he is so nitty? (also u marked yellow/fish that guy that opened, he is actually winning reg in zoom but has weird stats and weird plays limp reraises EP etc)

Simon Couling 10 years, 10 months ago

TT - With 100bb TT is right at the top of my folding range. JJ, AQs, maybe AQo, QQ I'm calling. KK, AK and AA I am mixing it up between 4betting and calling vs this player.

Yes I would flat AA there too. Ha yeah I had a feeling he might not be a fish. Certainly plays weird stats for a reg.

no offense, ive come in drunk and watched the first 5 minutes of the video, and i cannot understand at 4.49 how you do not value bet the 1010, the way you played the hand, called the flop, checked the turn, looks like you have a weak J on flop value hands (QJ, J10, KJ or maybe AJs  AJo call), and some draws (Q10s,910s ) more leading towards checking back hands as ( 99 1010, 910s, random Axs,) sorry, just dont know, i think you have enough draws/ weak hands to make 1010 a value bet on that board as villian never has a J, so you clearly have to have the best hand,.... id really like a small bet to induce a bluff raise. Villain dependant, dont know bout 100nl, but they spaz out at 25nl/50nl

22:47 you fold 88 in BB vs an EP open Why? what is your calling range here?

34:30 you X-fold 99 on A55 vs an UTG1 cold call and assign him a very tight range. Reg vs Reg this is a pretty easy X-fold but villain is 27/16 and you have him tagged as a fish

Simon Couling 10 years, 10 months ago

88 - It was against an unknown reg and for 3x this is right at the top of my folding range. Against someone who I know is bad and have a feeling for their tendencies I would call. I would happily call for 2.5x with 55+ vs any player.

99 - I think even vs a 27/16 here this is standard fold oop. Even a fishier player running those stats is still likely to have a reasonably strong range. Even though our 99 might be good we are gonna struggle to call any other street and our hand is very vulnerable vs his bluffing range.

at 4.28 in the video why check back the TT on the turn? Only one over card and he looks like he checking back either ace high overs or a small pair under the jack. Giving him a free card is ok here? Why not just take it down on the turn?

Simon Couling 10 years, 9 months ago

I think checking back ott is fine because given how tight villain is, and he def can be x/c a lot of his Jx and ops, and rarely calls much worse. Having said that, given how many overs there are to our TT betting def has its protection merits.

I am also curious you 3b A5s from sb but the A2s you called to see a flop from bb. Is that due to the fact you have better odds since more money is put in from the bb? Isn't the A2s a good spot to also 3b? Also kind of curious whats your avatar

Simon Couling 10 years, 9 months ago

As a general strategy, you should have a linear 3b strategy from the sb, and polarised range from the bb. This means we should 3b all our value and semi-value from the sb because by calling we open ourselves to be exploitatively squeezed by the bb. As a result, I dont have much of a calling range from the sb.

With the A2s in the bb, our odds are better and plays well to a btn range even oop so we're much better just calling this hand.

And my avatar is just a cartoon image of a guy flipping a coin which is of course in refernce to my stars screename :)

Hi Simon. Great video. Just a quick question at 12:57 mark you say villains 4bet jam is terrible with ak over your 3-bet. Then at 14:40 mark you 3-bet a UTG+1 raiser with AKo. Are you 3-betting for value// then folding to a 4bet? Why not just flat if you are planning to 3bet//fold. Thanks
