Hi Joni, as a transitioning NLH player, one of the spots that I find hardest to judge is when we face a raise or x/r OTF or OTT in single raised pots. I've been having trouble determining when I should 3B jam my combo draws and strong but vulnerable value hands and when I should call and re-evaluate on the next street. A replayer series where you examine these spots and walk us through the variables you consider would be extremely helpful and probably unique among PLO videos that have been produced on this site. Thanks!

Personally, I would like to see a video about 3bet pots, especially when we call 3bet OOP. It's something I struggle quite a bit (not sure if over-folding to cbets or maybe not folding enough to 3bets, etc). That's only me thou :)
I enjoy the way you explain your tought process, feels very natural and easy to grasp.
About one hand thou:

I feel like we should try to get value on turn (instead of on river) because on hearts and T we will be unable to value bet. Also anytime MrBean called the flop with a hand that contains T or J he might be very tempted to continue calling (not to mention if he has a fd which we dont block).

Looking forward to next video!

Thanks for commenting! Yes I think 3b-pots is next topic for my video. The KKT7ds hand you are propably right, that It could be better to bet turn instead of river since we are not blocking the A , makes it likely that we get value on turn from Aces up etc

Something for the future videos could be raising the flops in 3bet pots. I find it little confusing coming from NLHE where flop raises especially IP are almost non existant.

I got strategic question(s) on ~min 13:30 both tables 2 and 3:
Table 2: Q64ss board hits bb somewhat better in terms of more two pair, but you got the better tp/overpair hands - how do you approach cbetting there? Do you prefer more polarized range and generally playing turns/river with marginal pair hands or you bet more merged with tp hands and check back the weaker draws/air hands? Classes of hands I'm interested in are: KQT8(nofd), A876(nofd), AJT3+nfd, T987+fd?
Table 3: 864ss board hits bb much better, again what's your overall cbet strategy there? I assume you'd prefer checking back most of your range? What about hands like AA63+nfd, KK84(nofd), AJ87(nofd), T987(nofd), QJT8+fd?

Also, +1 on facing 3b oop spots for video

Thanks for commenting. The first hand is tougher, I kinda want to mix it up against good players. Sometimes I cbet that specific hand. Hands you mentioned I think I more often bet all of those than c-back.

Second hand is spot where we want to cback most of our range, Only hand of those u mentioned that I would bet is propably T987 coz of the most turns that we can happily barrel.

I enjoyed this series very much.....would like to see as you suggested some HH about 3B OOP especially from SB but also BB vs BN or CO. Also calling 3B OOP - so tough to play these hands that it makes me think I should fold more PF

I would like to see some OOP hand reviews, especially 3b pots OOP and sb v bb play when folded to you.
Btw have really been enjoying your video's, keep up the good work:)

in the last hand, why did you open the button small instead of potting it? you said that stickkman doesn't fold his bb much, so i would play a limp or pot button strategy. am i missing something here?

Joni Jouhkimainen 9 years, 1 month ago

J973 isn't really a hand I wanna limp and let Ilari in since the hand plays better in HU pot. I like to have limping range against these kinda guys aswell but I prefer different kind of hands like Ahigh-suit stuff etc that plays well 3way.
