Two questions for you:
1) How does your limping range compare to a 2.5bb raising range? I understand that you invest less money preflop and therefore giving yourself better odds but you also always give up equity by never winning the blinds preflop. Which effect weighs stronger?
2) You said that your limping strategy is an exploit because most players don't adjust well to it. In which position do you feel people make the biggest mistakes against you? Would you ever choose raising instead of limping if you knew that e.g. both blinds are recreational players (no further reads besides that)?
Hi cYde,
- Raising is of course more +ev than limping from a theoretical perspective, but in real games, at least in midstakes, people make a ton of mistakes against a limp strategy, so that is why I think the ev of both strategies are very similar.
- I don’t want to talk to much about how people play against my strategy, I hope you understand.
Yes, I,m open raising in some spots like the one you mentioned
As opposed to limp utg and mp ... I like to limp from CO and BN and SB ... mainly to counter 3 bet and have bigger SPR ip ... why do u prefer limping from the two early position rather later positions? Thx.
Hi Jeju,
Playing 3b pots OOP is one of the hardest spots in poker. 3b pots IP are much more simple, you are going to make way less mistakes than the OOP player, position is very valuable in these spots.
In late positions you are going to steal the pot pf much more often, and you are going to play the 3b pots IP (excepting COvsBU), so I don’t see too much merit to be limping. If you have nice preflop ranges, playing 3b pots ip should be pretty easy
Really uninteresting video. Did you face that many spots you are unfamiliar with? Because I lost count of how many times you said a decision was close, or you said "its fine", "its ok". You have 3 million stats in your HUD, yet you mentioned them in few occasions during your thought process. Also why bother going over Pio for a simple hand and stating what it does? We can see the strategy, there is no point in saying it out loud and wasting time with it. A much better approach would be comparing the EVs of the lines, for example, how big is the mistake of shoving river with the 87ss compared to calling? What my opponent needs to do for me to able to shove this hand (using the node lock function)? How does his turn betting strategy affects the river decision? The same goes for ingame thought process. Maybe you just are not able to express yoursef in a detailed manner in english, Idk. I was expecting much more from you honestly. Saw your limping strat in the first video and I thought it was really awesome that you were able to do so well with a strategy that is so non std which means you couldnt just copy from someone else, you had to go out there and test it for yourself, so I got really high expectations from that. I hope you take my criticism as a motivation for you to do better next time. Put yourself in the shoes of people who pay $100 a month to watch these videos. Do you really think you (as a learner looking to improve) would get good insights from your video? If yes, which ones?
Be more careful with your critic, you wrote decent things but choose more polite way. If you don't like videos you don't have to watch, if you have recommendations why not write it with decent manner so someone reading it won't feel bad?
But I won't write anything to you (Saulo), or you will aggro on me :)
You are totally right, I realized after I wrote that it sounded a bit harsh, and you can see a very different tone in my last post at the bottom. I apologize for that Juan!
A lot of spots in poker are really close or mix decisions. About my HUD, its true, I have a huuuge amount of stats, but I use it to get a clear idea of how my oponent understands poker in most situations and taking small deviatons from my main strategy, that's why I don't talk to much about it ingame. If I'm exploiting something important I'll say it, but this not happens to often.
I think listening my thinking progress might help people to improve (and I think it does). It's though to mention good insights, when I watch a video from a better player than me, I just learn from watching him plays and his explains and I don't think that I'm so bad exposing my game. I'm sorry you don't like my vids, I'll really try to do it better next time.
Thank you very much for the feedback, it helps me a lot!
I'm glad my feedback was well received. You should take it with a grain of salt as I'm probably more demanding than the average viewer. I just think that this site already has plenty of videos in this format and they just don't offer much value at all. And this combined with your session being not so interesting in terms of the spots that came up, made me feel like it was very uninteresting. Paul Atwal has just uploaded a very good video, so if you are looking for ideas on new formats or better ways to bring your thought process to the videos, you should check it out. You will see how there is a much higher density of content from his video than yours. But anyways, you are obviously a very good player so I do think you will get much better at producing content over time. Looking forward to your next videos!
great video. really like your thought process.
at 34min, you talk about the IP player on k725, and why is a7 betting? Is it like a bluff? oop chk a lot of kx.
and you say aq bets unblocking flush draw? Why does it want to bet unblocking the FD and chk with FD when 7x likes to bet with the FD and chk without the FD?
Hi FIVEbetbLUFF,
If you look at the c/r range, it doesn't have many Kx excepting KQo, and a touch of KJo. Besides that, the range is composed by 2 pairs (we block them with A7) and a bunch of draws which have a lot of eq against our hand. Also 2 pairs keep betting OTT very often. The bet is not a bluff, is for value and mostly protection.
About the AQs, the times we hold the As and the Qs, is much less odd that our oponent have a FD, so if we bet with AQss we are going to get called by a better hand pretty much always. With the other AQs combinations, we are not blocking any fd, so we bet for protection. We are also blocking KQo which is a good thing. The difference between 7x with fd and AQs is that 7x fd is VALUEBETTING and AQss would be a BLUFF.

Why u limping utg bruh
Hi Le,
Because I think people make lots of mistakes against a well balanced limping strategy. I talked about it in my first vid, you can watch it!
Hey Juan, great video! Really ejoyed watching it!
