Thank you so much George, I think you struck a perfect balance. I am a novice at 27, but feel this one video has already helped immensely. It was extremely easy to follow. The pace was perfect, and seeing all hole cards allowed for no gaps in action. I couldn't be happier with you joining RIO. Welcome!

The video was really easy to follow, I did make use of the advice GameTheory posted:).

happy to see mixed game strategy at RIO. Thx

great video ! everything was easy to understand even for a noob like me :) looking forward to more 2-7NL.

thank you and welcome to RIO !

Great first video George! Complete novice at this game, but I was surprised to see how easy it was to intuitively follow with some experience in razz. Really cool that you got added to the team and I think this vid struck a perfect balance.

very interesting but unfortunetely in France, only NLHE and Omaha are allowed on pokersites and I guess in Casino as well. would like to learn a new game but can't apply it

Just a heads up to everyone - George is playing in the main event at Casino Velden in Austria (hopefully for the next few days) and will get to your questions and comments asap.

Ty George. Great insights into 27sd and I liked the pace and format. New to this game but I found the insights into hand structure and values useful even for 27td - played some 8 game cash afterwards and believe that I played better as I have little to go on. Maybe you could do a vid on the triple draw game which comes up more often? The situational dynamics were particularly good.

I've never played this game, and had no idea about the rules even, but I liked watching this video. Your thought process is very solid and easy to follow along with, and I definitely picked up a lot. It's also very clear that you enjoyed making the video and have fun playing, which is really great to see.

Nice addition to the site!

RIO is no longer about strategy. It is all about feeling warm and cozy while listening to someone talking about a game that you will never even play.

Synapse 9 years, 7 months ago

GT posts are no longer about strategy. They're all about trolling high and lozy while replying to a guy about a game he doesn't even play.

HU 4 rollz NL 2-7 single draw?

chasepoker 9 years, 7 months ago

Pretty sure I am not going to play a ton of single draw but some concepts in this video helped me a lot for other games. Hope that's ok with you Game Theory. Thanks.

def voting for more nl 2-7, this was really enjoyable to watch. 96542 "I think that there is no merit to raising"...(George jams).."...whooah" should easily make the RIO Hall of Fame, if one exists/is ever created. excel sheets would be very interesting, but i think primary focus should remain on footage review - the value of going more indepth is going to be much greater once a broader base of knowledge has been established.

Great video, but could you elaborate a bit more about your fold of 3567Q at 14:52, is that a not enough good hand to 3bet or at least call? btw Welcome to RIO.

Bitterly disappointed that Full Tilt decided to close down the 10 game mix tables which was the only place I know to play 27sd and Badugi as part of a rotation. Guess it wasn't getting enough traffic

betgo 9 years, 7 months ago

There also aren't many 27sd videos out there anywhere that I know of, so it is particularly nice to see a good one.

As someone who has an interest in playing the big mixed games in vegas I'm wondering if you could potentially make some videos on some of the more obscure games like badacey, badeucey and super-razzdacey if you're familiar with them.

(For those of you unaware that think I'm trolling and making words up, I'm really not. The last one was a game actually being spread in vegas that I'd never even heard of before showing up.)

Admittedly I thought they were joking when I saw a piece of paper taped to the placard with sloppy handwriting that read "Super-RazzDacey" when It should have said Stud-8 lmao

betgo 9 years, 7 months ago

Yes, 2-7SD is a relatively old high stakes game. Would be great to have videos are the newer weird mixed games, as there is little information available on them.

EasyPeasey 9 years, 7 months ago

Very big fan of this video for the format as well as the content. Incredibly happy to watch someone who really knows what they're doing cover any mix game action but especially NL 2-7. Cheers George and welcome!

Really great instructional video. Already liked your youtube videos, nice to see you going into much more detail here. I would love to see you doing at least some nlh mtt coverage at some point, even though you said you feel like its nicely covered on here. Because I really like your calm way of going over spots. But will keep following all the other videos too, even though im not playing mixed games much

betgo 9 years, 7 months ago

Very cool it is with all hole cards showing. That always makes for phenominal videos. Also, there have been some mixed games videos on this site and another premium site by NLHE players who really weren't that good with mixed games, so good to see a quality video.

GiveUntoCaesar 9 years, 7 months ago

+1 for the hole cards up format. It's really a terrific learning tool for a multitude of reasons. I'm looking forward to the rest of this series, as well as other games to come (hopefully with the same format). Great content George.

George, the video was awesome. I really liked the format and your thought process was excellent, well paced, and translated well to people (myself) who aren't familiar with nl2-7td. My request is if you can cover other games, limit 27td, stud, badugi, or anything that would be in a mixed game rotation. Thanks George!

thelastfedor 9 years, 6 months ago

Great 1st video George. The more 2-7 NL SD the better. I would love to see Badugi as well.

I would love to hear you explore capped ranges in 2-7.

Steve93 9 years, 6 months ago

great video george

around 13:50 you say that buck should bluff his top 2 pair. do you think there are any merits to bluffs more combos than that, and maybe also bet bigger? lets say reaching a 2:1 value to bluff ratio and potting? maybe at that point we are just bluffing with hands that are too strong, but do you think there is enough merit in decreasing that ratio from 3:1? in multiway pots our bad pairs have a lot less showdown value, so its tempting.

aanother question, how wide do you think we can bluff in HU pots playing OOP with a 1card draw vs a 2card draw? should we maybe bluff all pairs and better in that situation? or do the low pairs have too much showdown and we should check them and maybe chose a different/more appropriate sizing for our betting range? im not exactly sure how to approach these river spots with a big range advantage.

also, what do you think about pat bluffs? with which hands/in which spots would you chose to do it?

huatianyudi 9 years ago

Hi, George nice video , one question : on 54:31 810ofclubs 8743A , peel pre vs BTN 3bet , and shove 1psb on river when calling 256(12outs for value) 87(6outs for bluff) , is this a balanced play? given that you mentioned in the video "shoving when hit 87 or paired an 8"(i wanna know is that if we can bluff a 7 and not being overbluffing.)
