I think calling the 4b with KK98ss is a losing play. You're barely 33% and you're only >50% on less than 20% of flops, you have enough equity to get it in another 15-20% of the time (but you get it in behind, on average), and you just have to fold over half the time because you get boards like you just did.
Hey! Great video! :) At 25:05 you decide to cbet 752ss with QJJ9ss. This board is better for BTN's range: he will have more 22/55/77 by far, more 2 pairs and the straight completing turns are good for him as well. How many FE do you expect on the flop? And if he calls, what is your plan on different turns? (are u planning to 2-3 barrel on clubs etc..) I understand it needs protection and can't check call. But will the cbet be +EV against his flop calls/raises?
Thanks :)
Hi nlzkm
I think on this particular board this hand is actually pretty ok to bet for a number of reasons. I dont think Im gonna get a ton of folds on the flop, however I dont expect to get raise that mucht either. If i would get raised im happily folding. With this hand I would definity be giving up a bunch of unfavourable turns (low cards, non pairing, non clubs) and might want to barrel of on clubs with the Q- blocker (Q h flush is probably the lowest I would go for value on three streets).
If my opponent is super agro on these low coordinated flops I might change my strategy in future but without such a specific read from all options betting just makes most sense here. Check/folding is just a bit too weak with our hand, Check/calling will give even more difficult situations compared to betting. I guess its important to not over cbet this board so you could definitly check/call a bunch of hands from your 3betting range that are just a bit stronger.
Hee Lautie! Great vid! Keep making the headsup vids please, so much more interesting stuff going on than in 6max (imo), and often enough in 6max games you play hands headsup anyways, so I think 6max players benefit from this as well, even though ranges are understandably different, I believe there's a lot you can take from a hu-understanding perspective, to the 6max tables! I'd like to see more of these vids, but maybe some matches that were against players you had more reads on!
Hey Lautie, first of all I would love if you did more HU videos because there's not many good ones out there. Really enjoyed these.
Also, I have some questions about a few hands.
2:23 What sort of hands would you run multi street bluffs with?
20:19 What are your reasons for wanting to go for a pot sized bet?
So basically you're betting big when you have more bluffs in your range? And is it the case for this spot?
