:55 AQ isn't this board better for villain since he can have all sets and we only have 66 at some frequency? Why bet most of our range? Double barreling AQ isn't too loose here? Are you adding it so we have some more bluffs on club river?
3:40 KK it seems like you wouldn't have many bluffs on the turn here right? Maybe a few broadway Flush draws but your range would be mostly value here right? Since villain is fishy how thin would you shove for value?
17:30 AT are you onnly calling AJ+ here?
35:55 how light should we call turn here? 88 with a diamond?
thanks
00:55- he will have all sets but he will also have lots of floats. And I only bet AQ because of the Aof clubs, which allows me to shove a club river! So AQ without ace of clubs I would check.
3:40 - against a weaker player we do not care about balance at all. So yes, like you said, i would not have many bluffs here, my range would be mostly value. I would shove any pocket pair for value, even 99, cant really do much else with it.
17:30 - Not even sure about AJ, because, what are his bluffs? I will have all AQ combos (sometimes 3bet pf but rarely), I will have sometimes AK as well. So with AJ, its very tough for him, he is OOP, so I dont expect him to be triple barrelling often as a bluff for me to call AJ. Its something I have to decide ingame, it depends on the opponent, if its a player who ill have KT JT KJ in his bluffing range then yes I'd call. But most of those hands are a x for regs on the river.
35:55 - you can call 77 with a diamond too, especially if his flop x-r is wide.
At 16 you say you only want to bet big etc, intuitively I know this to be the case, but could you please discuss general principles on bet sizing in certain spots?
I think you are referring to the KTo hand?
Its simply a spot where the board is full of draws. When thats the case, the best overall approach, is to bet bigger on these boards, its a higher EV play, rather than have a strategy where you bet smaller like 50%. Also you need to consider positions + flop action. We are up against a BB who will have a fairly wide range, and since we are button (our opening range is also wide) he will have to call quite a lot of turns, and when we bet 50%, we make things simple for him and not extract enough value.
But lets change the board texture, so flop-turn are same, only 3 on the flop is a heart and turn 3 is a spade, then we can have a half pot betting strategy on the turn and KT would be okay to bet.
