Haven't quite finished the video yet but with the AQhh hand, and you shove river for pot by justifying your floats contain a lot of Jx, I would doubt you shove these hands?
When you get to that river, you're repping JT, J9, KQ and 99-JJ by shoving. But I doubt you ever have a pot size value shoving range besides KQ because you're probably making all his river one pair hands fold that you wanted to get value from. Which makes me think a river jam is the worst possible sizing in your position as opposed to something like 55%-70% pot on the river.
So when ranges are split in to shoving = bluff/one combo of KQ, and then 55-70% pot = bluff/99% value, then the shove makes less money because you're never balanced enough to justify shoving being more profitable whereas the 55-70% bet is way more balanced and achieves the same thing your trying to accomplish by shoving, but obviously cheaper.
Hope that makes sense! Very much enjoying the review though - detailed analysis is always great.
Very good analysis. I agree with your thinking whole-heartedly. The point i was making about Jx hands if it wasn't clear, however, was that i arrive at the river with very little air. All my missed draws have a great deal of showdown value thusly my bluff frequency will be low and it's not a good spot for him to be making hero calls. Thanks for the feedback.
On the final hand of the video, I would think the check back on the turn from you is either a monster or a made hand that you want to get to showdown with whereas I would think a small bet from you on the turn is potentially a float or a monster. In the former case, I would check down my air or weakfish hands and fold to any bet on the river (as then I would eliminate most weakish hands and put you more on the monster) and in the latter case, I would call or check raise all in on the turn though if I call I would probably call a river shove too leaning your hand more towards a bluff then a monster if I check and you shove especially since you are a big stack. So, if I am being clear at all, I advocate the turn bet and I am curious why you chose not to bet turn.
You make a good point. Until you raised this issue i thought of it as pretty standard, but you're right, a turn bet allows me to keep my range wider and allows for floats such as AJ and AT. I do check back TT-99 on the turn tho so i still have some weakish hands in my range. Perhaps better to place AA in my bet call range as he's unlikely to check a Q on the turn. Thanks for the input.
Yo, great video Sam! One thing I want to ask you about is your AA hand at about 42 minute mark. Why did you check the turn? I think betting here is really important to keep air in our range, while when you check back most people will realize that you dont have T9s, AJ or such like. I feel like if you bet he may hero at least one street with some TT or AJ type hands himself. Also you may get him to spazz out with random gutters and stuff which will probably just give up on the river after you check.
100% agree bro. Guess being deep in a soft comp froze me a little. The comment above makes the same point and i've replied in full there. Thanks for the feedback tho. Really appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the vid.

Agree with your post-flop analysis completely fwiw. The Jx river crushes your range.
Thanks for the response, Sam.
