1:10 Table 2 you 3bet D2 with AKT6 nut clubs and check the Qd4d9h flop.

How are you balancing your flop bet range here if you're not betting most or all of your nut guts? Perhaps you don't want to use them all, and with this one unblocking diamonds and hearts, it seems like a reasonable one to give up flop with. It just seems like if you're auto check folding this hand class your flop bet range is likely quite strong and D's best response will be to drastically over fold vs your flop bets.

As played on turn, what makes you prefer betting this turn over checking/calling? When I look at this turn spot, it feels like our hand is too strong to start bluffing with (obv this spot isn't static and the terms "value bet" and "bluff" don't accurately illustrate what our hand qualifies as). It seems like it gains more from allowing IP to bet wider compared to betting turn basically for protection. Not to mention when we bet an observant opponent who is clairvoyant to our strategy can start semi bluff jamming quite wide on the turn and we wind up folding considerable amounts of equity. Also when we're called on the turn there will be a huge subset of texture changing rivers that often force us to check/decide (usually fold).

All of those factors usually push me towards the checking option.

Flop:
Ull burn money if u cbet a flop like this vs his range and this spr. He will hit this flop so hard that when u got so little eq it dosent make any sense. Obv ill mix in some of my very good hands and c/gii so im not allways c/f.

Turn:
Why u should bet turn instead of checking:
- I have the best hand a very high % of the time
- Its very hard for him to have alot of semibluffs so he can shove and make me fold out eq wrong
- Protection - Even if he has a weak hand he will still have a decent amount of eq, so any 1pair or small fd with no pair hand I can get to fold is pretty good.

  • U make a comment that u woul prefer villan to bet, this turn is gonna get checked through allmost allways and he will then realise alot of eq that I dont want him to. Also u think he will have alot of semibluffs, and he deff wont have that as most of those hands would bet the flop, and i have Th so im not rly worried but getting semibluffed off my hand at all. U also say that I will have to fold alot of rivers, again I dont agree since when he dont bet the flop and dosent shove the turn he wont have any 2pair, straight, any set and alot of diamond flushes u also can remove bec he dident shove flop, so im only really worried about a river heart.

Your total range is doing pretty well on this board, you have a ton of wraps, and vs 40% are actually in very good shape with your range if you construct it well for 3-betting. I think with this SPR checking is sometimes better than betting only because you have the added threat of x/r stacks, so CO can't get too out of line with c-betting. That being said you don't really improve at all on many turns, and I feel this hand would be best to c-bet.

Also FWIW I don't think you have the best hand a "very high" % of the time with a pair and gutter, as CO should still have quite a bit of stronger hands in his X back range.

At 0:50 you say u 3 bet AKT6$ss SB vs CO because you're way ahead of his range, in which way ? Cause equity wise it doesn't seem the case and range wise it doesn't seem like a great candidate either, maybe u can expand on it.

Liked your discussion about turn bet sizing tells, hope some spot will come up on future videos.

Assuming he's opening 35% or more it look like we're pushing a slight equity edge pre. Not to mention there is other value in 3betting this hand. 1) We fold out BB's equity in a scenario where he should be completing at a very high frequency. Note in these post flop spots our relative position is the worst. 2) We block CO's 4bet region. 3) We have a lot of nuttiness and high card value.

I'm pretty sure this hand plays pretty well in either call or 3bet and is probably mostly a function of how wide CO is opening.

edit: Looks like my link didn't work. Hero's hand has 50.21% vs the top 35% of hands.

He opens CO 40%, AKT6 is ahead of that range and way more important is the fact that my playability with this hand vs his range and a spr like this is amazing.

You could be more courteous to Skjervoy. Guy has been around forever in PLO, and clearly has done a lot of things correct to get here. You sound pretty arrogant, and disrespectful. I'm not saying you should praise him, but to call out a reg, who will probably watch this, isn't very civil.

Internerd 9 years, 2 months ago

why do you care how he talks about skjervoy? Are you that guy? Much rather have his more raw, in the moment thoughts than phony or safe stuff. Also, he tended to give specific reasons for his opinions throughout the video. Im not havin him over to watch the Eagles, bra. Im watching him play and listening to his comments and considering whether i agree or not and why. much better served to that end by genuine if somewhat brash commentary than more reserved, considerate one. Especially since you can learn about how people like him thinking and what they maybe missing or overemphasizing.

TimBostonRE 9 years, 2 months ago

OH NO, Skjervoy's feelings might be hurt?!

Who cares. It has been awhile since RIO put out videos from a PLO boss like this. The fact that its raw and he says what he feels makes it even better. Its high stakes poker - feelings get hurt, sums are won and lost. Lets DROP the pc bullshit plz

Thought it was excellent. Good insight into starting points of thought process all the way to conclusions about what should be done. Liked the frankness and lack of understanding of whatever social boundaries may exist in this domain. I don't care about that stuff at all. Plenty of videos already out there with guys sayin same shit everyone else did.

Alex. Thanks for the great video. Congrats on the WSOP win this past summer. I was on the rail for a bit of it.

Looking forward to further content from you. PS. I had some run good (+8k) after watching this vid. Coincidence?

Hi!

At 9:25 you fold As2s5oTo after utg opens and utg1 calls. I would surely call in that spot deep and in position, so I'm wondering if you would consider a call near neutral EV or if you think it's a decent sized mistake. To me it appears your AoQs8s9s CO call the next hand is significantly more marginal.

Sorry for the noobish pre flop question, great video so far and loved the intro!

The problem I see is that alexkp doesnt take this video making seriously, it can also be seen in the beginning and heard later on from the explanations. I wouldnt have said things like "Its been a while since I made a reg analysys" or just to start the video" This guy is the spot" or the thing he told about Skjervoy. What if that guy is gonna watch this video(the fun player)?Just think about it.Seems like all his approaches are super exploititive and its working out kinda well vs the field but he is clearly (gonna have) having problems vs analytical,GTO-based players I think.

wow ! at 40minutes, i thought this hand would be a call river (BvB vs lautie) ! i really dont get it

if you fold this hand here, to me you overfold this spot (K6, top 2 and sets are the only better hands than yours)
