Sweet! Been a while since there was a PL500-1k live video. I love your style of explaining (not too much, just what is necessary) and it's great value when you want to upgrade your sanity towards most basic, solid game.
EDIT: misread the duration.
Yes i do think calling the squeez in this spot will perform a bit bitter than folding, not by much thou... so we are not like super happy with this situation.
Going 4 handed to the flop with very low SPR can get tricky (some plrs get it in too light on certain flops vs ranges and some way too tight) and those usually have a lot bigger effect EV wise than very close preflop decisions, so some off table work for these kind of flop spots is needed...
I'm curious, did you run sims that show how this hand performs 4-way? We are investing very -EV preflop and we rarely flop dominating hands on safe textures, so we need to flop correct EQ with a high frequency. Also, we need to not shove or fold incorrectly more than a fraction of the time.
Are you sure the math is right? Which method to calculate the EV do you recommend?
Other question, which reasoning do you use to check or bet the flop?
Yes i ran a quick PPT sim after apv2009s question, dont have one here atm so cant check it now. I got that calling the squeeze beats folding (and losing 3BBs every time) by a very small margin.
Its true that we might make occasional mistakes on flop, but personally i am convinced that opponents here will do those a bit more.
Overall check or jam strategy would be super long to go through here. But in this spot where we are 4 way on flop i wanted to see what happened, and if all 3 got all in before me, there might be case for folding my hand even with SPR this low. If had only 2 opponents i think shoving first might be better, since we would be going in anyways. This puts the plr in the middle in a spot where he might end up making some mistakes with some middle strenght hands, since hes got to worry 1 plr behind him..
Against reasonable range i think we are not having enough equity to go in here. But like you said we are prolly against a fun-player here, and he might be going in way lighter than he "should" vs my pre 3bet range, so in this regard wouldnt completely hate getting it in here...but its a close spot and a bit more history with villain would help us greatly in this situation.
I just wanted to say that I really love your video and especially the series about BB defense. I feel like you have done one of the best PLO materials with that one.
This video is great and the mix between the fast pace of the zoom and your slow and detailled explanation is prettty good.
Anyway, I'd enjoy a video about some theoritical concepts such as defending the SB (both calling and 3betting) because I feel like it's a grey area in PLO and I can see some really various strategies here and there. Because you have done such a great job with the BB, I feel like maybe you could do a great series ;)
Nice vid but I had a few questions:
24:55 : is the QJ84ds SB call std ? I feel like the hand is a bit too weak to be completing from the SB, decent amount of reverse implied odds. I think I actually like calling the squeeze as played since I feel your hand will play decent oop with a low spr.
29:25 : is 3b>call 180bb deep with AsKsT8 ? Is it opponent dependant ? In that hand, what do you think about leading turn ? I'm guessing he's going to have pretty weak hands when he bets flop that small, it's probably a good card for your range since you can have AAxx, AQxx, probably more 8s then him, and I'm guessing it's a card he's almost always going to check back for those reasons.
32:13 : you defend KQT8sssx against a tight HJ open but a bit later you fold JT96ssxx otb vs a cutoff open, not sure if that makes sense to me.
38:00 : I thought you might go for a c/r on the river since his only bluff catcher is a rivered two pair (you also block a nine) and he might be tempted to bluff at that river since he kind of played it like a draw. Do you believe bet is >>>> check in that spot ?

Min 25:15 Table 1 - after the BB quezzes you believe the call is EV+? ty

Is the AKK2 15.30 a standard fold? Vs a fun-player I would almost always call here..

Thanks for the job that you did for RIO !
Thanks JMBasquiat, i will keep you succestions in mind!
Great video Janne. It was pretty interesting and insightful to see you dealing with so many tricky spots. Those are the ones we learn the most from.
And I agree with JM. A SB video would also be nice. And more no BB defend I think would be also great. We would never get enough of those IMO :)
