super nice explanations about everything. Your thoughts are so well explained... Thx a lot Phil.
What software do you recommend for doing some calculations in PLO? for example analyzing the spot in the vid? (the simplest/handy one!)

Propokertools are great for running sims :) there is also a "syntax help" option where you can learn how to type in different ranges and such! hope that helps

Great essential video, covered a couple of spots I was struggling with. Good luck to present Phil at the series!

Best video ever Phil! I loved it. It was nice to hear you explain some preflop strategy, that's the biggest leak in my game right now :D

Thanks Phil for another great video!
With regard to the QJJ8 hand you c/raised from the BB versus a bad player, I've recently been calling these kinds of situations often because I found many types of bad players (at 0.25/0.50) are 1. betting hands with very little equity on the flop and 2. are likely to barrel again on lots of turns and feel they are pot committed to call with bad hands after I check raise turn all in. Does this line of reasoning hold due to the players I'm facing or am I underestimating the protection value and the lost value on scary turns.

It's not so much protection value, but there are plenty of weak hands they will put a lot of chips in with on the flop. I find that players are much more likely to stick in their stack with KT9 or Kxss on the flop than to cbet twice and call it off on the turn.

Thank you guys! I'm glad you all enjoyed it! It's WSOP time so I'll be slow on here and on the forums, but I always appreciate the questions/comments. GL!

Hi Phil, nice Video!

I was wondering about min. 26:00: You mention you would check raise, Check call, or lead if it was a HU pot. But how would you proceed with either of these lines when villain calls our bet / raise? I also feel like being aggressive on the flop makes sense, but then I would be a bit lost on the turn and probabbly check / give up without improvement. Is that worth the risk / rewards vs aggressive villains? What is your standard line in such a spot?

Thanks and regards!

really appreciate you making some videos at the essential level. Its helping me a lot with my play as i am slowly transitioning from texas holdem to plo. Seeing the JJxx type hands with more middlish cards are a fold to ep raise makes me feel like a donk. I been calling and getting into tough spots post flop with these kind of hands. the QQA8 hand i would of bet flop probably turn. I am the worst geez. U don't even bet the turn. I thought for sure the turn is a bet. Texas holdem has me over valuing these spots its hard to get out of that tendency to check back top pair with a decent kicking in plo but your right though i been in a lot of bad with these kind of hands multi way.
Great vid im definitely over playing I am a definitely a donk at plo.

Pretty much done with texas holdem moved over to PLO. I fell into da PLO trap =). Its like heroine. 5422 at beginning of video is fold for me at plo50. I learned hard way just have to fold these out cost to much rake.

Phil,
The QQ67 hand where you check called the flop against the short stack (19:00 in), you ultimately concluded that you didn't like your call and would have preferred a fold. But what is the argument for calling in that situation out of position with such a weak draw? Were you planning on bluffing later if a flush hit turn and turn went check/check?

Thanks, I find that I am perhaps check folding too much on the flop out of position, when I should be making more calls with plans to bluff on later streets if the opportunity arises. Feedback much appreciated, thanks! Great video!
