~13/40 T664ss hand.
on KJss5-4r runout you're taking about barreling all the small cards that would complete back up straight OTR. So, is he really folding on deuces, sevens or 3s rivers here too oftern? you block spades and also a ten that makes him having wrap or FD less likely. that shifts his range towards made hands a bit, imo. like KJ (w\ no redraw, KJ+gutter), Kxxx w\ weak FD and so on (plus, you're betting quite big OTT which makes him fold most of pair+oesd hands). then it makes firing river less attractive, does it?
no deep analys here, just some thoughts from 6max player
I agree. for all of his made hand combos the lowcards to him propably are the biggest bricks in the deck. the only hands your folding out are JXXX w/ straightdraw(s) or spades. pretty much every made hand is and should be calling. unless you have a read that he's pushing every 2p on a blank turn I don't like firing low rivers.
anyhow thanks for the video, I really enjoyed having a bit of HU to watch as an essential member, maybe it helps my terrible BB game a bit :)
Hey guys, yeah, there's a few spots like this I think over and am unsure about, kind of feel sometimes I play aggro just for the sake of playing aggro which has its pros and cons. I'm essentially at the bottom of my range in this spot so can't fault trying to get folds, however against thinking players you won't be able to get away with habitually doing so if the line doesn't make sense.
I think against the average player at these stakes I have little history with, I'm likely to hear from them on the turn if they have a strong made hand that want protection from draws; my large sizing looks pretty committing, I'd be priced in with my strong drawing hands.
I do think our opponent can make it to rivers c/calling with fairly marginal hands; Kxxx w/spades QQxx w/spades i.e. lots of one pair hands which may find calls tough as they themselves block some drawing hands I would barrel. However, as you mention given that my exact hand blocks some of his drawing hands makes it somewhat less likely.
So in summary I think you can go either way! In spots like that it's important to have a good insight on your image; if the opponent was aware we were pretty aggro, perhaps had a history of calling us down light etc. this would sway my decision. As I say in this series, I think my default strategy against presumably weaker unknowns is to take the more aggro route until proven I should do otherwise, partially for the sake of toughness and metagame. Can always take a small victory in constantly putting opponents to tough decisions!
Thanks for the detailed comments, I'll be working on some 6max content in the near future (low-stakes hu doesn't seem to be as popular, glad you enjoyed the vid though) so hopefully there will be some more interesting spots to break down. I think difference of opinion and analysis like this is very useful for learning and progression.
Thanks for the lengthy reply. I feel like every time I take an (overly)aggressive line like this I get snapped by some weird made hands. But then again I think I have a terrible image and thus by now tend to not fire away.
That being said it can't hurt to be firing off the weakest parts of your range and if he calls get some lighter calls in the future.
