Must be nice to have someone stack off to you with a pair of 8's!!!  You showed me a whole lot about HU.  For example. Patience and trying to play small pots oop and larger pots in position. Great tto hear your thought process for the hands.  Very good info for a HU cashplayer who has just started playing HU tournaments

C betting 94 on qq4 rainbow is pretty horrible. You say you want to c bet this wide for value. Big leak vs anyone good. QQ4 is a flop you do not want to be betting wide for value simply because youll be blown off your hand too often. The reason people can call a bet with ace high on this flop is because when you bet qq4 your polaried. Or should be

what? if he is calling with ace high we should be betting 4x. what are we betting if not 4x apart from Qx? we're never getting c/r on QQ4 seems like a slam dunk cbet

prisonmike.. on paired boars heads up especially when pair is high and the x is unconnected. you want to cbet polarized. with some air some draws and qx. It plays better to chk the 4 on this flop. you can bluff catch turn and rivers or extract value from ax on the turn.even more so since its a weak 4. Its just not good to cbet

How can you be so certain that it plays better as a check ? Did you ran some CREV ?

I would argue that 4x hands need some protection and have some value now, and checking them makes our range looking pretty showdown-value heavy and hallows the villain to play turn and river pretty nicely versus us imo.

Also why would we need to cbet those flops so polarized ? You can't just throw that argument in the air without explaining us why you think we should do so.

A few comments, first off I agree that I was playing too loose pf, I prefer 3xing btn, especially being 200bbs deep, but I think I should fold roughly bottom 5% otb, I'd add that some of my bb defends are probably too loose, although if the btn is minraising 90%+ I'd imagine that I should be folding the BB very rarely.

As for the 94 hand, to give some perspective if I open btn with 100%, I have no pair on the flop 75% of the time, that means 94 is actually fairly high up in my range, it also is quite vulnerable and I don't want to let villain realize his equity with all his hands. Given that I would like to be bluffing this flop and my hand is vulnerable, I prefer betting, the hands I would prefer to check back are hands a little bit stronger than 94, including some Qx because it protects my check backs. The main problem with checking 94 IMO is that I lose to all his vbets so when I check back I put myself in an bad situation when villain bets twice because I lose to all his vbets and beat all his bluffs, which means I'll just be guessing on pretty much all run outs.

I suppose I do have the same problem which is if he c/c and than bets river or c/r flop I will have a tough spot, but the main advantage of betting is I don't allow villain to realize his 25% pot equity, + bluff equity. Either way I think its a spot where you will have enough 4x that you should probably check some of them but I think betting them is certainly fine.
