First hand I have trouble understanding why you think a small sizing is good with a range advantage on this flop. I know from watching other videos that it is a possible strategy to bet small with the range advantage, but from doing some PioSolver work on Kxx boards where we have the nuts we actually lose value by betting smaller with strong hands so a bigger sizing works better there. I mean isn't it nice to be able to put a lot of money in with hands like JJ and therefore have more possible bluffs in your betting range? If you think this is the case aswell, how would you go implementing 2 betsizes on a flop like this? Or do you rather use 1 betsizing and bet your entire range to keep it simple?
12:30 You mention you are not sure if he flats 89 with a heart on the flop. Why are you not sure about this? Surprised me hearing you say this.
Hi
1) I totally agree that you lose value by betting small when you hold JJ or KK but the question is what is the EV difference of our whole range using different betsizes and not of specific hands like sets. From what I ve found out in these flop spots, if we play correctly the ev of our range will be very close no matter what size or sizes we choose (at least for std sizes 30-100% pot), so I prefer keeping things simple and betting 30% pot with my entire range.
2) Yeah! I meant if he is the type of guy to raise this on the turn, he might also raise this on the flop instead. I expect him to fold flop 0% with 89 and one heart.
why are u betting w/ QQ otf in a 4bet pot when he has clearly a range advantage and u block w/ the Qc some portion of his callingrange??
i guess ur betting for protection esp. w/ ur size here, but i think that isn´t as important as u think cos he has most likely 3 outs vs us or he is way ahead...
i think in general we should not developing as the caller pre in such spots a bettingrange, i´d check 98/100 times here or smth....
As you said due to his advantage in this texture he should cbet 100%, so when he checks I go into exploitive mode and believing my queens are good most of the time I bet small giving him the opportunity to make random spewes, or extracting value from weaker hands than mine, I agree with you that my hand does not need protection.
In the hand 33 vs 52s, you said AA KK w a heart is a better bluff catching hand than 33, but I think these hands block a huge part of his possible bluffing range?
Very good remark of philibr imo. I find it hard to know which hands to use a as the best bluffcatchers. hands that block his value range (Ahx) or hands that don't block his bluffing range. (33). Maybe better to use a hand like KhQ f.e. as people will not bluff that frequently with a hand that won't make the nuts (Khx/Jhx) but you still block a lot of his value range.
You both made very good points.
In this spot ranges are so wide, that he can have all hh combos that exist in the deck and will play them the same way, so this means that any heart has the same value as a blocker against his value range, because it blocks the exact same amount of combos. That said I can call river with any heart-x hand with a pair and it s better if this heart is never in his turn-river bluffing range.
The problem is which heart-x paired hands do I bet/call the turn with? It s going to be KhQx, QxTh, Ah7x, Ah3x but these are with a very low frequency, because I ll check flop or turn with them much more often. Then I ll have AhQx a lot and AhAx, KhKx almost always. So even if 5h for example might be a better blocker than the Ah I d never have that in my range, I ll have mainly Ah and some Kh.
Furthermore, my x/f river range will mainly contain the Ah either because it s just an ace high or is with a pair but still I have to fold a lot of those. The only hand that I should fold sometimes on the river and has a Kh is the KhKx. So getting into my opponent's shose, he should not bluff the river with the Ah since he blocks my x/f range and he should do that with the Kh or even better with other hearts, so coming back in my place, I should call with the Ah since I dont block any of his bluffs.
Now you might think, ok if I start calling with Ah he should go back to bluffing with this card because he blocks a lot of calls, but he cannot do that. He blocks such a big portion of my x/folding range that bluffing the Ah will be a mistake and there is nothing he can do about it.
super cool video ! thanks for sharing your thoughts! tough spots and theyre explained well on your side ! cant wait to see the next one! maybe some spots in next one, where you flop stone cold nuts? or a video with some big bluffs included?

I have not played NLHE recently, but I really like your thought process and the format itself, please continue with the series!
unique thought process
Great video Stelios! Personally I would like to see some more tough spots with deeper stacks.
