Hey Phil,
6:50: Top right table with KKJTds; I find in that spot as you alluded to that players in the villain's shoes tend to run out of natural bluffs. His sizing on the river makes sense to me as far as repping straights and sometimes A8 or maybe other rarer boats, but what do you think about him sizing down to 1/3 or 1/4 pot and being able to add maybe a few more bluffs? I'm trying to think off the top of my head if that could help him balance that spot out and I guess maybe almost as an exploit be able to get hands like your specific combo in your range to feel a lot more indifferent about calling or make hands like TX feel like they have to bluff more often to stay balanced in a pool that requires that.
I guess he could just find more bluffs for 1/2 pot that aren't really natural to simplify the process and maybe avoid having to have 2 sizings, but I wonder if he could even just consider 1/3 pot as his one sizing in that spot and put thinking players in a tougher spot with a lot of their range. Obviously I haven't seen this spot run out via Monker, but I think it's good for players to also try to think out these spots for themselves without just looking at a solver sim and often auto-piloting from there. GL in the series!
No worries man; we are all here to learn. Yes, essentially I think when you have more than one sizing in a spot you are effectively splitting your ranges. It doesn't mean that you can't have certain combos, but you are certainly repping more certain types of combos if that makes sense. When I suggest that the villain in this spot maybe size down to 1/3 pot he is able to rep correctly combos like straights and bluffs that he might not show up with for pot, but to a player like Phil that could be quite exploitable if he doesn't have some A8+ at least sometimes for a smaller sizing.
6:10, the J65ccc you say that you'd like to bet a small sizing and bet your two pairs for protection:
1. Would you check back a set since it always can call turn and doesn't need as much protection?
2. Does 66 bet more often than JJ since JJ blocks more of SBs continuing range that isn't a flush, or is this just a to small consideration when betting 1/3 pot?
3. If the board was T95ccc, would you always bet top set then? This board is more favourable for SB than the J65ccc (so BB shouldn't need to protect his checkback range as much), but SB gains more protection by betting on T95ccc (SB has a lot more straight draws compared to J65ccc)
11:40: A67ccc with T568:8c!cc. Which hands would you prefere to bluff here? I'd believe that its good not blocking any Q/K since we'll fold out KK/QQ (tho many of them probably will CB flop). We also unblock AQK/AQT/AKT that often will xback flop and fold turn(?)
Don’t know where to post this, so going in a new plo video thread to get seen (sorry if there is a better place I’m not using).
Live adjustments for plo elements that are fairly unique to live poker. Btn straddle and utg straddle. Rocks. Mandatory rocks that are utg. Mandatory rocks that play from anywhere and act as a straddle PF. These kind of things w theory adjustments and concepts behind how/why to adjust.
Hi Phil, enjoying the series
@11:10 - How would you construct your c/raising range on the turn in this spot with the set of 44s? If you didn't have a jack in your hand, would you have been more inclined to go for the c/raise? unblocking his turned 2pair hands
Cheers
Regarding upcoming videos:
What about something different and outstanding? For example Phil battling different tough opponents HU and reviewing the session afterwards . Either fellow RIO pros like Sauce (please make this happen!) , bustoville , isildron, victor larsen or others - or if Phil has some personal poker buddies that he gets onboard.
Not sure if they still exist, but if they do PokerStars home games would be perfect to play privately and the agreed stakes to not make it a money issue.
If the other player would also do a video from his perspective it would be great to see the same spots from both angles.
I agree that xcing with the AKQ6 on QJ7r wont work out well and is prob -EV vs some1 with a solid range that barrels turn often. I would rather fold than xc without a read.
What about shoving? Im guessing he only needs to fold ~25% of the time for a shove to be +EV if we have about 33% vs a stack off range consisting of [Q7+, AKT, KT9, QT98, Q+:AT+].

Sorry i am a big noob but learning alot lately... is having 2 sizings in a spot the same thing as
splitting your range?

while a short stack video would be good, the deep stack content is always great, so I'd have to vote for deep play

Thoughts?
Another great video,i'd prefer you to stick to deepstacked PLO if possible but also wouldn't mind some footage from a member to review!

at 40:40 can u explain the thought process for stacking off?
