Thanks for the video, Ben. At 25:00 (the KK vs ATd) against this player pool are you still bluff catching halfpot or more on the river on worse cards for your range? e.g. diamond or a straight-completing card. For a strategy that is basically "allow opponent to overbluff and call down" I imagine the important addendum is the obvious "as long as enough of my equity is preserved." Is it appropriate to take the extreme exploitative view on the river node and assert that (1) opponent is always overbluffing on rivers where I have higher equity and therefore I always call (no diamond on river) and (2) opponent is always underbluffing on rivers where my equity is diminished and therefore I can always fold (diamond on river)
I would have folded on ST+FL cards like the 9d, and I'd consider folding on other cards like the 3d or Jd that don't interact quite as strongly with IP's range but which still improve many obvious semibluffs.
It's not necessarily the case that IP was overbluffing on the river given we saw the AdTd at showdown; it's possible he was overweighting his turn range towards strong semibluffs and therefore had to follow through on non diamond rivers with suboptimal blocker combinations. I wasn't making very strong assumptions about whether my opponent was under or over bluffing as a frequency for his sizing; what I tried to point out in the video was that the AdTd combo is likely not a good combo to bluff with.
Hi ben great vid, as for playing tighter at games with such high rake do u think it would be winning to go as tight as LJ 12% HJ 15% CO 18% BU 40% and sb 40% obviously they wouldn't be as static when playing zoom and exploits vs recs would be made but as a standard would this be ok or to tight?
I think those RFI frequencies would definitely be winning. The goal of low-mid stakes poker is to maximize $$/hour by playing the maximum number of hands you can per hour while maintaining a decent winrate. The EV of VPIP the lowest EV RFI hands in NLHE trends towards 0, so a reasonable view might be to only play hands whose EV is >=.05bb or thereabouts. In other words, there's no reason to pick pennies up when you're surrounded by dimes and quarters.
It was terrific to see how you adjust to the multiway pots vs relatively weak strategies. Live games even at pretty high stakes have rec. players with very weak and often gambly and predictable strategies that resemble these tables. Seeing how you react to bet sizing tells in multiway pots was very interesting. Live we almost always know the status of the player be it pro, semi-pro rec. etc. and these kinds of adjustments are the bread and butter of large live win rates.
Thank you for another terrific year of videos. It is a true pleasure to view your work.
Nice to see a lower stakes one thanks!
@4.04 open fold A3o on BTn just to make sure it was not a misclick. You think it's good adjustment to open fold A2o-A6 or ?
Thanks
34:50 the Qs7s hand, why do you choose this combo to bluff river with? A few hands prior you discussed the negative blocker effects of following through with bluffs on the river when you have a missed flush draw. Is it ok in this spot to barrel river with the missed flush draw because it's hard to have other bluffs in this spot and because the 7 is such a good card on T4468?

Happy NY to everyone and wishing you guys a happy (and winning) 2018 :)
Nice to see a lower stakes one thanks!

maybe for 3x size, range is slightly tighter and A3o,A2o borderline +EV opens anyway
@13:44 QJss I would always bet the flop for smaller sizing , what is the reasoning for checking this particular hand?
Welcome to poker 2018, load up micros and you have 100k nl regs to your left xD
At 22:20, open fold KQoff from utg, is this right?
Ben said in video its close: the less you care about paying rake the more you can open it. With reasonable rake its always an open and so is KJo

Ben Sulsky 45:32. Why does shove pre seem best here? I would think the range from SB is pretty strong. Thanks!
