For us european guys: What is a rock straddle? Is it the standard utg straddle?
For a cap table i find the seat to the direct right very interesting, playing tight and waiting for a good hand to limp, let him repop and sandwich the complete field with a l/rr.
Think the relative position is very good when this dude is the likely aggressor and you can use this for you in this mentioned way.

In a deep game i would prefer to have him on my right, not direct but say 2-3 seats.

I think the "rock" means that the winner of the previous hand straddles.
If you are 100bb or less I think I agree with Nageiring that the seat to the right of of the restraddler would be most plus EV as a lot of your edge in that game would be pushing pre-flop edges.
But if you got a few 100bb deep then that seat would be hell (or fun, depending how you look at things)

Rock straddle is...winner straddles $10 next hand and action starts the left of the rock...unless someone re straddles ... Then action starts left of the highest straddle.

So if its 1k cap with rock straddle $10 are u considering this a true 100bb cap game? Even though by playing tight most orbits you will only commit sb + bb ($5 + $5)?

I do agree shorter stack (<50bb) makes his immediate right most profitable since we will negate his post flop position many times by getting most/all of our stack in pf or with flop SPR < 1. But this also causes use to play a higher variance style by only pushing PF edge and losing out on post flop edge...which imo is the biggest edge to be had.

And deeper > 100bb i agree that having 2-3 players between us and the target is ideal.
This negates some of the "always UTG pf" and when target has ultimate position (button CO HJ) we will be in the blinds or UTG....positions that we should be playing tight ANYWAYS so we don't give up as much, because target's best positions coincide with our worst positions.

I do see it being difficult to trying to get a large portion of a 1k stack in pf in this game even if its 5-5-10-20 when restraddled. And say i sit his right and 2-3 ppl call his $20 i can only pot for ~$80-$130 depending on blinds. And now if just he calls...im playing 87% of my stack post flop OOP! With an SPR ~3-4. NOT IDEAL

Slightly confused are you saying only direct left of rock has option to restraddle or it can be done from other seats as well?

Also I would LOVE it if we could get one of the plo coaches here to make a vid on playing vs straddles especially button straddles (utg straddle is fairly basic to adjust to imo as it's more or less a 3rd blind) think it would be really unique and beneficial to a ton of people who play live!

Ahh ok Mississippi is button straddle where I'm from but I've heard of being able to straddle from any position in other places
