The BB ended up having AAxx and MP was a fish with 5432ss, but Im wondering how this plays out if they both have AAxx, or in some cases, BB has AKKxds and MP has AA. We would obv shuve if BB is 100BB deep like MP, but when we call MP shuve, BB will shuve another 100BB and we will play a sidepot as well.
So is folding here better than call, call? If we are playing after the 5-bet, do we shuve ourself or just call to fold on A high flops and other worse flops like 222, 225 etc?
How do you do the calculation for this spot?

Essentially you are going to need to put $22.20 to compete for the $75 main pot and $25.00 to compete for the $50 side pot. From there it is just a matter of calculating your EV in each pot and summing them. For example, if we give MP a range of 20% and BB AA, we have 32% and 42% respectively in each pot.
Ev Main = $75 * 32% - $22.20 = $1.80
EV Side = $50 * 42% - $25 = -$4.00
You can play around with propokertools and calculate your EQ given different ranges for each opponent. Then you just plug the equities in and solve.
Why would MP have a 20% range when he 5bets the 4bet? doesnt seem like a winning play to me after only having 3BB in the pot..
Are you sure this is the right calc? I figured it could be something like:
Mainpot: (32%75) - (68%22.20) = 8.904$
Sidepot: (42%50) - (58%50) = -8$
If this calc is right, we're making .904$ before rake, and by folding we lose 2.80$ so it seems like call call is better.
If your cals is right, we're losing 2.20$ by call calling which makes it a bit better to fold considering rake.
If neither of us have done the calc right, im still curious :D
And the question then becomes, if BB is 4-betting AKK to fold to the 5bet, does it become profitable to get it in with a much wider range then KQJTds?
My intent wasn't to provide actual ranges, but to show how the calculations are done once you have assigned villains' ranges. Given that he shoved 5432ss, 20% isn't insane for this particular player.
Calculations are right. There are 2 ways to calculate EV here. One is %win * profit - %loss * loss. The second is %win * total pot - amount you must contribute. Your equations combine the two (%win * total pot - %loss * loss).
The answer will vary significantly based upon your assumptions about both villains ranges and whether BB is ever folding. I'd have to do some math to be sure, but my thoughts are this:
The more likely BB has AA, the more likely you should fold
The more likely MP has AA, the more likely you should call
The more likely MP does not have AA/KK and BB doesn't have AA and will fold KK/QQ/AKQJ hands, the more likely you should shove
thanks, still looking for a complete answer where we know what hands are profitable to GII here from our 3betting range. In this particular spot, I think you rarely see a MP shuve 97BB in with anything else than AA or some sick connected hand like JT98ds etc. Its just in this spot that MP went for it with the 5high, which I dont really understand.. but anyway
