Profitable 3 street bluff?

CO: $10 (Hero)
BN: $10
SB: $19.34
BB: $31.18
UTG: $11.12
HJ: $19.46
opeel20 stats: VPIP 32 / PFR 4 / AF 0.9 / Fold to flop bet 67 / Fold to turn bet 50 / Fold to river bet 83 / Post-flop X/R 8%. I have a 160 hand history against him at this point so I have a general idea about his style of play.
Preflop ($0.15) (6 Players)
Hero was dealt T 6 K Q
UTG folds, HJ calls $0.10, Hero raises to $0.45, BN folds, SB folds, BB folds, HJ calls $0.35
I have position against a player who calls with lots of weak equity flush and straight draws, weak broadways, only 3 bets aces. I therefore want to build a pot in position against a player who also folds often post-flop
Flop ($1.05) 5 9 A (2 Players)
HJ checks, Hero bets $0.65, HJ calls $0.65
I figure I can take down the pot once he checks. He tank calls, making me think he has a weak F/SD, a 9, possibly a weak ace, potentially the 59.
Turn ($2.35) 5 9 A A (2 Players)
HJ checks, Hero bets $1.75, HJ calls $1.75
Once he checks after the second ace I barrel again. I figure I can still rep aces, as well as a backdoor flush if it hits. After he tank calls again I completely take the ace out of his range as trip aces would be in his X/R range (or at the very least wouldnt be a tank call). I also take 9 hands, second pairs and the low SDs out of his range, as he would be unlikely to X/C two streets on this board. The only hand I can legitimately put him on is a K-high flush draw, and unless he is lucky enough to have a double suited K-high FD then he almost always has clubs, as opposed to diamonds, as this correlates with the flop call, and unless he has some pair+diamond draw the X/C on the flop makes no sense.
River ($5.85) 5 9 A A 4 (2 Players)
HJ checks, Hero bets $5.59, HJ calls $5.59
When the diamond hits (and his club draw misses), I almost pot the river (not quite sure why I didnt pot completely - I think my time bank was nearly at zero and I panicked before it checked down :/) as I have almost no showdown equity. As I stated earlier he is unlikely IMO to have the double suited FD with diamonds. This is because I have the Q diamond blocker and he would be unlikely to want to commit in this spot with a J high flush due to his passivity PF, as well as the previous reasons. In addition, I almost pot it so that if he potentially has a two pair or weak aces, by potting it makes it all the more difficult to call in this spot.
Final Pot
Hero has T 6 K Q HJ has 2 K 3 K HJ wins $16.26
He tank calls (for an age!) and shows down backdoored diamonds. >:(
Did I gauge his range correctly, and therefore was unlucky that he showed up with a hand as strong as he did - making this, in the long run a profitable bluff? Or should I have shut down at some point in the hand?
