Possible to grind up at PLO

Hey

Have anyone here seen some calculations of how big the rake should be before you lose your edge. I ask this question because i am playing PLO at 0.25 / 0.5, but i have never really heard of anyone coming up the ranks here (except odd odsen, but he started with 100 buyins at 0.25 / 0.5. The players are really exploitable and i have a ton of +EV playing them, i am also making money. I am just afraid its not possible in the long run, because every pro i have heard of took the SNG route till rake got to be a lot less.

Basically i am considering playing PLO HU instead of PLO 6max which is atm my preferred game and do this through SNGs. I find that i am good at picking up tendencies and i think i am betting a good enough amount of my range to print money on blinds and generally just outplay postflop.

Which route would you take, any pros got a suggestion?

Play what you're best at, game select well, don't cash out, and don't go overboard with strict BRM until conditions demand it. A consistently high win rate allows you to get by with a small bankroll. Take advantage of this while you can. It can save you a lot of time.

Join a site with decent rakeback, and the rake drops from 12-15bb/100 to 4-6bb/100. Most def. beatable. Dont be afraid to rely heavily on rakeback the first few months, be humble, and you'll beat it in no time.

Well comparable to PLO25 Zoom on stars, is there something that makes up for the hands/hour I'm missing? The problem also on non-Zoom tables is, that even though they're fishier, I can't get as many hands /hour.

Also, what about traffic? 888 Poker for example has only 7 tables of PLO25 :P

I can tell you, with complete certainty, that these games are very beatable (non-Zoom. I assume Zoom is but I prefer playing regular tables so don't have the sample-size to confirm re: Zoom). However, if you are looking to build up, you will have to be patient and put your time in. I wouldn't personally say that the most efficient use of your time in getting to, for example, 200PLO would be to start w/ $500 at 25PLO and go from there (I started from freerolls as a hobby so never really cared about how long things took). However, one benefit of building this way is that you can practice/learn with lower risk and always drop down knowing you are a winning player at the stake below whereas if you simply start out at 200PLO you might just suck 'cas you haven't gotten the requisite experience to put into practice strategies which you think you've understood on forums, in videos etc.

Therefore, I would suggest putting the time in to the game you enjoy most and accept that it's a process, but primarily a process you should enjoy. Poker at these stakes shouldn't be started at as a job (imo), but as a hobby which makes you some money. Then, if you find that you're making enough doing something you enjoy, perhaps you can transition into making it a part-time, or even a full-time occupation.
