PLO5 to PLO10 skill jump

Hi guys,

I recently took a shot at PLO10 zoom after grinding PLO5 zoom for a while.

I felt like I got owned in every single spot. I would like to know from people that played PLO5 and moved up to higher limits if they felt that the skill jump particulary from PLO5 - PLO10 was as big as I perceived to be or maybe I was just off.

Thanks.

Yes, I definitely think there is a lot more aggression at plo10 than plo5 and it's a big jump. Players at plo2 are super passive and you can win there just by playing good hands in position. At plo5 there are some agro players but they're not balanced so they're easier to deal with. There are still a lot of weak tight players.

You don't get to see a lot of free cards at plo10 and get slammed with pot size bets often. When I do decide to call down I get shown the nuts. I think there is a much bigger gap between 5 and 10 and have not been able to put in a winning session there yet. I see players there that also play at much higher stakes or are higher stake NLHE pros that are perhaps learning plo?

But I think back to when I thought about plo5 the same way. I would keep getting stacked and couldn't book a winning session. Something must be sinking in! Maybe it will come to us gradually the same way. Jonna commented before in his experiment that once you can play plo10 the higher levels are much the same so that's good motivation to keep working

Maybe just a variance, play some more hands u will see its pretty much the same, but 25plo is actually noticeably different

Interesting.....can you let us know how it is different? More bluffing or aggression?

yep more aggressive, it seems like majority of people who want to learn plo starts at 25plo, and I guess many of them are decent holdem players who really like to 3bet, sqz, cbet (just my opinion :)) and interestingly 50plo is not that different from 25plo

You're right - tried again this evening and it was fine. Not that different at all. In fact some of the same players. Tks!

I didn't notice any difference whatsoever, but I didn't play much at plo5.

plo25 on the other hand is a different ballgame!
