Now, obviously this is a somewhat easy call vs certain opponents? However, can you safely fold here vs some other sort of villain? How would you go ahead and define how you built your reads when deciding to fold here?

I don't think I can fold this, unless you are certain, that opponent never bluffs. I'd have to have at least 300 hands played with opponent and saw similar river half pot donks with slowplayed hands. The only hand that makes sense is 77, or some 4. Against an unknown I'd expect to be shown a bluff way more often than 25% (odds you need on a call to be +EV) of the time.
People who open-limp the CO are very rarely going to do something like this as a bluff so we should probably fold. That said, I'm probably gonna call here and regret it. My guess is he had something like 8754.
Idk what he had cause I folded. I thought we are getting close to the price of just having to call. But maybe not just yet. Say I potted the turn, he donks the same way, and it's even cheaper. Could become a good reason not to fold since we are starting to get the price even if this was his one-time bluff of the night. Also he might just randomly realize his hand can only win by betting. Seen some poker on TV or something.
Always fold to river donk bets at 25PLO.
Yes lol, my comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek. There are some non-nut hands we can call with here. I just think folding to any river aggression is a good default line at 25PLO, and only take other action when there is a strong reason to. It's something I've been training myself to do actually, to not just auto-call because the line looks like they can't possibly have it -- but instead auto-fold whenever there is doubt. It's done wonders for my win rate.
much depends on CO stats.
but yes, as was said before - "one that open limps CO - wount donk bluff river too often". all in all fold is fine
