How to open up in live play

How do I stop being a preflop nit? Playing live where pots are 4-6 ways whats a good way to think about playing hands that aren't MMMMss/ds or NNNNss/ds 99+ for a limp and AsNNxs/ds. There seems to be a lot of value that is missed in live play by just getting involved but I always seem to bleed off to a ton of preflop raises if I don't play pots and get involved and I'm overfolding with bottom two or even top two a lot.

Hand example I limp AdTd9s7s in the sb to a mississippi straddle. UTG raises $60 4 callers 6 ways to the flop.

Flop Ah9h7s ($360)
I check, bb checks, utg checks, mp checks, hj pots, btn calls
Hj is an older gentleman that is playing snug what do I do here? Btn is a whale
Effective stacks $1800

In general, don't stop being a nit when you are guaranteed to take the flop 5+ way.  Your hand value is important.  And because of this, live PLO grinding can be very very boring.

I'd x/jam on this flop at SPR=5.  Sometimes we walk into the nuts, but I just don't see any better option.

I guess my question should be more geared to how to play in pots that are going 6 ways with loose postflop players that take one off with gutshots. Playing monsters is the easy part but getting involved and being on the top of all in equities and barreling opportunities is essential.

So what hands to select preflop to open, limp/limp call as well as how to approach 3betting when its likely to go to the flop for a 40bb bet 6ways.
