playing overpairs OOP in 3bet pots
SB: $6.22
BB: $10 (Hero)
UTG: $10.21
HJ: $11.03
CO: $10.28
UTG folds, HJ folds, CO raises to $0.35, BN folds, SB folds, Hero raises to $1.10, CO calls $0.75
I played this hand yesterday and once again recognized how bad I am at playing those spots so I thought I might be able to start a small discussion.
In this hand I'm not referring to this particular villain but rather to the average reg since that's who we mostly face in those spots.
Villain is this hand is your average reg. Opening 20-25% in CO, calling pretty much every 3bet IP and playing somewhat snug OTF.
I expect villain to shove the flop with 2pair, NFD, KK:ss and wrap+pairs or wrap+fd, sometimes 987 but usually floating that.
Now OTT it's where it gets tough for me. SPR is 1,5. With SPR=1 I'd def just pot-shove the Jc since it doesn't complete draws and is no real help for villains flop floating range, which is mostly oesd(+pair), bare-non-nut-fd,9***, naked wraps and some KK,QQ I suppose. Obv he can have made 2p but that's just how it is.
I am doing quite well against the range I assigned him for calling OTF on that turn (is my syntax correct? I feel like I'm doing too well).
25%!AA:(78,9,345,KK,68T,67T, ss!(9,6,3, As))
-> The 'ss!(9,6,3, As))' means 'fd with no pair and no NFD' (correct?)
I have 52% vs that range so I obv can gii here. When I'm betting I'm obv not folding so is there any reason not to pot? Fyi, I play those spots in a vacuum since I'm not concerned with balance at 10plo zoom.
Thanks in advance! Already curious to hear what you have to say.

I probably just flat this preflop, not sure how nitty that is though.
I'd bet flop a bit bigger and jam turn as played (or pot/call)
I'm flatting a lot of AA OOP preflop, but I always feel like flatting AA with a nutsuit and 2 'straightcards' (Q for broadway; 5 for wheel) has got to be better than flatting and start the x/guessing.
That's interesting. Do you 3b AAT3ss too? Also, what about AKK3ss?
pre could go both ways for me- 3b or call, actually this aces good enough to 3b OOP, unless villain is super tough reg
flop, could be wrong to go ~2$ and pot on this turn is called.
if V attacks this kind of flops IP - I'm okay w\ c/r otf
pre could be close either way, probably need to know that someone is stacking off light in this smallish SPR situations for me 3b OOP and leave this ~4SPR.
On these flops I would be cbetting bigger in general, it's wet enough and connected enough that villain can improve on a lot of turns and taking it down now is a win. If raised pretty easy gii on the flop. Turn I would be shipping a lot of the blanks that you described. On bad cards I would x/c or x/f depending on villain tendencies.
You say 'easy gii on the flop'. I agree on not folding if raised but I think vs a standard (meaning rather passive than aggro) micro reg I think I'd not be excited to gii. What range do you expect to shove?
This was my go:
20%!AA:(96,93,63,99,66,33,Ass,87:ss,T987,9876,T87:ss,875:ss,KK:ss)
Any 2pair, wrap + pair or spades, set, oesd+fd, KK+fd. I have 40% vs that so
After betting so small OTF I need 37% or more to gii after he shoves so if he shoves a slightly tighter range it's getting close. On the other hand that fact just supports all of you argumenting for cbetting bigger since I only would need 35% to gii after betting $1,8 OTF.
I mean easy gii as an extension of why I would 3b this hand in the first place (if I was to 3b). I would be 3betting PF against an opponent that I expect to semi bluff a wide range. I would actually not like to 3b AA hands like this against opponents that are going to float the flop and make life miserable on turns and rivers.
Also this is one of the better flops for our over pair, and often we are going to be paying 4SPR on three streets OOP and still be questioning our flop/turn and river play.
Agree with OP on preflop.
With SPR of 4 on this texture, I think 1.8 on flop, pot/call turn is best.
I would 3b preflop cuz you're way ahead his range (65% equity vs a top 25% opener)
On this board, you want to be betting large-ish with all possible holdings in my opinion whether it be AA/KK or 2pair or draw (say $1.80 into $2.35, as overbet56 first mentioned)
That would leave you with $7.10 to shove into $5.95 on the turn (basically a pot sized bet)
