On 3betting

Is it generally a bad idea to 3b a hand like T986ss against an UTG open assume we are readless (eg Zoom PLO games and we dont have much history on villian)? The combined risk of 4betting, flopping air or flopping wrap against a dominating hand just seem too high. What do we 3b then?

vs completely unknown i do call T986ss mostly. if he's 15% or under (raise first from UTG) - still a call. 20%+ - then can go either way 3b\call

What do we 3b then?

vs utg, if he's unknown, presumably reg - good aces, some AKKxss, better rundowns (not the ones with 3 broadway cards as these play poor vs 4b) overall 4-5% i believe. sure you can make money 3betting wider if you have post flop edge

generally deeper U wanna 3 bet more, and wait until some tendencies start to form, after like 500 hands then u can 3 bet people with high RFI (even UTG ) treat it as a CO open with hands like this, but 3 betting 4-5% is completely OK u dont need to go out of line increasing variance by 3 betting marginal hands. U can experiment with any hand u think are reasonable to 3 bet

Would you want to 3bet 98s or 87s against an unknown UTG player in holdem? Probably not. Can it be profitable? I'd say it certainly can, but without many reads on our opponent it's close to impossible to say whether flatting or 3betting will show a higher profit.

If you 3-bet a solid UTG player with hands like this, they have a very simple counter strategy: just call and play their hand. It's not necessarily wrong to sprinkle in a varied mix of hands in a 3b range, but you don't want to sprinkle so much that it becomes a spray.
