I'm a complete PLO noob so excuse me if this is a standard spot. On the flop do you guys this raising is a good idea? his lead could be a ton of draws, but at the same time i could be crushed by a better two pair. genuinely confused.

thoughts on my river play?

Flop is not a raise. Anything that beats you has you crushed and anything that is behind is only slightly behind.

OTT I think I d check this back. It sucks for sure as you are giving a lot of free equity but you hand is just so marginal that you just wanna get to showdown as cheap as possible and I don t think you get a c/f here nearly enough. Rivers will be tricky but so it goes when you 3 bet trash.

The 3 bet is pretty marginal and I think I would call preflop. 3 betting isnt the worst idea given positions though. Make the 4 a 5 and I like it a lot more.

I'm not sure why you're 3-betting pre here. You have no concerns re: buying position or isolating villain and you certainly aren't pushing an equity edge. It's nice to have the occasional hand on this part of the board when 3-betting, but I'm not sure 9874ss needs to be there (double suited, 9876 etc. are the ones I'd pick).

As played, I think calling the flop is basically your only option and I don't think you should have bet the turn. Yes, it's nice to charge his spade draws, but you can't call a check/raise, won't have the nuts here that often and would quite like to see the river. Check it back and hope you boat up. If not, you can potentially call some blanks and get to showdown without further investment on a lot of cards.

Stick to double-suited hands when making light 3-bets with rundowns. Then you won't do it too often, and you'll have much better playability (and auto call against a 4-bet).

good call on not 3betting here. i was messing around with power of position in PLO, but it can easily get out of hand. thanks for the help!

Started out with LHE back in the olden days (2005), then began playing NLHE in 2006, then PLO in 2009. Been playing mostly PLO mid-stakes since, with the occasional mixed games session thrown in (2-7 TD, yay!).

Started with small SnGs in late 2007 when I won a little cash in a freeroll (such an original story), mainly Hold'Em, but tried to find other games as well. Added in NL cash and quickly moved to 2/4 and 3/6 mixed games about a year later. Just as I switched to PLO Black Friday hit which, given I was heading to the US for grad school (UPenn), kinda sucked. Back in the UK now and multi-tabling low stakes PLO as I re-learn how to play/kill 6 months before I start work. Also sit in some of the smaller mixed games when I'm bored.
