Interesting Turn Spot, Live 1-2-5 PLO

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post on this site. Just like to start by saying thanks and awesome job to Phil and the rest of the runitonce pros. I've been a member of a number of different training sites over the past few years, and I must say watching a handful of videos on this site has really elevated my PLO game to a new level(and given me a new sense of confidence at the table that I never really had before). I felt like I was stuck and not getting better for a long time, but I finally think I have found an awesome community with some of the best PLO video content I have ever seen.

Alright little bit of background information for the hand I would like to discuss. We are playing 1-2-5 PLO 10 handed, and the game plays quite deep. People often buy in for 1000-1500 and it is not uncommon to see 5k+ stacks in this game. In fact, a few weeks ago I saw a guy win a 13k pot increasing his stack size to around 24k. Thats the only time I've ever seen anything close to that but as I said people frequently have stacks of 4-5k.

I have been raising a lot of hands pre-flop this session in an effort to isolate 2 players who I consider to be loose fish. They both never raise preflop, limp almost every hand, and call almost every raise pre-flop if they have already limped. This dynamic was giving me a lot of opportunities to raise preflop and isolate these two players. I think in general my image is that of a somewhat loose, aggressive, thinking player. However, probably not too relevant for this hand because I don't think fish this bad are really factoring my image into their play.

Hand in question:

I raise AcAs4c5s to 40$ from UTG + 1 (there was a 10$ straddle UTG). Everyone folds to the SB who calls(Villain 1 is one of the fish mentioned above), Villain 2 (tight pre-flop, somewhat thinking player, has some limited ability to make plays here and there) calls from the big blind, and Villain 3(the other fish) calls from the straddle. All players including me are over 1000$ deep preflop.

Flop:

9c - Kh - 3s

It gets checked to me, and I opt to check. I don't really like getting raised with just bare aces here, and there are a lot of good turn cards for me (any A, spade, club, maybe a 3 improves my hand slightly) I'd like to hear any arguments for betting here if you guys think checking was not correct.

Turn

8c

I picked up a nut club draw, but otherwise the 8 doesnt do much for me. Now Villain 1(fish) bets 45 into a pot of about 160. Knowing the player, this screams weakness to me, almost like he maybe picked up a straight or flush draw on the turn. I don't see this player ever betting small there with a set or top 2 or anything. Villain 2 calls 45 and Villain 3(fish) calls 45.

This is a spot where the old me would have just peeled a cheap river card 45$ to win roughly 300$ seems like a great price considering any club or ace give me the nuts, plus maybe a 3 gives me the best hand. Now the new 'runitonce' member me tried to put the three villains on a range of hands as follows: Villain 1 almost certainly picked up a draw on the turn, small bet sizing just doesnt feel like any kind of made hand. When villain 2 and 3 both call again I feel like everyone is drawing, I dont think either of those two players has tricky moves like smooth calling sets there. Additionally, Villain 2 is pretty solid and I think I can get him to lay down a hand as strong as top 2 there with a pot sized raise. Villain 3 is a huge fish and could show up with anything here, but most fish play pretty standard poker and I think he raises any set on this board 90% of the time. So having considered those factors, I opted to bet the pot 385.

Just wondering how people think I played this hand? Is my reasoning on the turn sound? Or is this spewy? How often do you think these guys can show up with a set there?

Sorry, I know that was a long post, but I appreciate any input you guys might have.

Thanks!
