Insanely high rake in private games..
Hey guys,
I´ve been introduced to a new private game and was shocked to learn that they rake 5% uncapped. Seeing the game as it is people are basically giving money away. Obviously this kind of rake scares away any type of professional so whats left is lineups of pure fish spewing off buy in after buy in.. Im wondering though if thats good enough to justify playing..
Would love to hear you guys opinion :)

no don't play too high a risk of getting cheated, stiffed, or robbed
The ev equation looks a lot less favorable if there's even a 0.1% chance you die as a result of the game.
Personal preference as to whether to play home games but as above you need to figure out how you can beat the 5% (which is often more than the stated "5%"), ensure you're not being cheated, avoid being robbed, and avoid getting physically injured. There are plenty of stories.
Play if you like getting cheated.
Justin_Case 5% seems a bit higher than what would be worth playing unless you personally know the players and they are truly just punting. In the high rake private game's I play in, rake tends to be capped at 1bb or 2%, still much higher than standard but a lot more beatable.
It could be worth it, best in my opinion is to play over a course of 6 months and see results, don't think there is a way to know otherwise, some very big wins can come from these types of games
