How to play bottom set multiway?

Blinds: $0.50/$1.00 (6 Players) CO: $131.00
BN: $36.25
SB: $97.25 (Hero)
BB: $70.00
UTG: $182.81
MP: $154.80
Preflop ($1.50) Hero is SB with 6 6 A 9
UTG calls $1.00, 2 folds, BN raises to $4.50, Hero calls $4.00, BB calls $3.50, UTG calls $3.50
Flop ($18.00) 6 Q 8
Hero bets $18.00, BB calls $18.00, UTG folds, BN folds
Turn ($54.00) 6 Q 8 5
Hero bets $54.00, BB calls $47.50 and is all in
River ($155.50) 6 Q 8 5 2
Final Pot SB wins $0.00 BB wins $146.00
Rake is $3.00

I felt lost in this hand. Is the call pre okay? UTG limper was a 60vpip whale, no reads on the button. What's the best line here?

Fold pre, when you're hoping to make a set and then not even sure if you're good when you do make it, you're just asking for trouble.

if you think the Button is squeezing lite, you can try a 3 bet here being double suited, blocking an ace. The pair is actually a detriment in this hand but still a decent 3 betting hand. The problem with calling is unless you make quads you are playing OOP to a whale who does not fold meaning you must showdown a winner, and a presumably thinking button. 3 bet or fold here IMO.

Preflop call is standard and fine imo. But like Dusty Atherton said above, 3betting is worth considering too.

Postflop plays seems fine to me.
