How to know when (s)he holds the only hand that beats us !?
You are in delirium vhen you see the flop and just thinking how to exploit your opponent
as much as you can by right betting and wise play.
There is big difference being in position or out of position and holding nuts and holding 2nd nuts.
I am talking about:
(a) flopped nut flush vs flopped 2nd nut flush
(b) flopped nut full house vs flopped 2nd nut full house
I am not talking about set + nut flush draw VS nut straight e.g. as it is mostly pot - pot- pot AI situation....
Ofc, backdoor draws are here very important as in case (a) we could have also set for instance holding 2nd nut flush where we can improve, and in case (b) we could have 2nd nuts full house + overpair that can bring us overfull...
If turn and river doesn't change anything in both cases (a) and (b), and we hold 2nd nuts OOP, should we value bet or just play cautious and check-call on river?
What to do if nothing changes on turn and river ( case (a): board does not pair, case (b): lower cards fall on board)
and we are OOP and we hold nuts - should we value bet or check raise on river? What about small bet that will induce our opponent raise his/her 2nd nuts / bluff on river thinking we were on draw that did not complete...?
I remember one my hand and stakes were not "so low", although.... (but as I play low stakes I posted here)
I took a shot several times on 5 10 PLO 6 max and I was holding T5XX. I had 1000 $ on table.
I was in BB and EP player raised - I called.
flop: T55
I was OOP and I thought next:
I got him. My plan is to value bet flop and turn 99%, and decide whether bet or check-call the river
upon river card. I bet 70$ - opponent called... Pot was 210$.
I put him on 5A, 5K, 5X, KK, AA....
turn: 4 ( low card - no over full under assumption opponent does not hold TT which is only hand that beats us for which chances were really low...).
Very good - I bet 210 $ - opponent called, pot is 630 $, I am left with 675$.
And now the river comes...
river: 3 ( low card - excellent! He did not raise me on turn, he probably does not hold TT, but 44, 54, 53 and similar)
There was no possibility for opponent's straight flush - which was not irrelevant...
I bet pot, opponent raised - I called with pleasure (hmmmm),
In the case I have checked river, villain would have bet pot if he got me, I would have called - the same thing due to my money on the table....
To be honest - I was convinced he was chasing A or K or Q for 5A, 5K, 5Q or for AAA55, KKK55, QQQ55
( in the case he had like AA5K, KK5A or AAKK, AAQQ, KKQQ ).
I was betting all streets as I was value betting + protecting my hand from "next higher cards" that will bring my opponent higher full house.
(S)he was holding TTJJ....
