Fresh aspiring PLOer (in USA)....top 3 tips>?
Old school post boom player who at one point player 5/10 live (go ahead, laugh, I would), and was a Razz reg at midstakes pre BF.
I still play on and off live in a social club setting that is less than challenging (1/2 and 50 dollar freezeouts) and play micro MTTs online to just keep somewhat sharp and as a hobby with good results in LOLsamples.
Earlier in the spring, I started working different hours so I couldn't make it to my local live low limit games so I started to play cash NLH again online just to keep myself sharp in some respect, but found the games on Merge (go ahead and laugh once more, again, I would) were pretty awful and my game was pretty behind. I just don't enjoy the really nitty reg heavy games even when I feel I have an edge; I'd rather exercise that edge at MTTs which are inherently more fun to me. Ofc that's just me...
Anyway, so I sometimes play/watch PLO just for fun at low stakes and always realized 1) Its a rich, complex and interesting game, and 2) It's very beatable with rakeback or some rational rake structure...at least the domestic US games are.
So here I am, tired of nitty NLH games online (or too far behind the wizards, which I admit is def. true) and wanting to at least catch up to PLO play to the point where I am not a spewtard. With those goals in mind, what are the top 3 resources I should use to jumpstart my learning of the game, be it forums, videos on here, twitch or books (?)...
Also, what are the top 3 tips you would give an aspiring micro/Low PLO player in today's US facing games?
Thanks so much in advance, and I promise I will pass the knowledge on and become an active member in this forum,
Zach
