Villain showed AAK8hhxx. For 150bb deep, you still wanna 4bet pre or is there merit in deviating? What about the river lead. Assuming I bet all straights and combodraws OTT, there is little to fold out for him to bluff.

Yeah his line is obviously terrible. What are you doing 3betting T866ss??

Not trying to give you a hard time, but seeing as you have a thread right now about a big downswing, plays like this could definitely play a big part in that. Every decision matters and in my view trying to always play to the best of your abilities is kind of a minimum requirement for being a pro. This is a pretty silly 3bet and I think you know that, and mistakes like this can add up. Again, not trying to bust your balls, just food for thought.

Villain is clicking buttons. How can we try and explain his thought process?

Probably something like...

Preflop: I got AAK8hh, hmm I'll disguise my hand and not 4b because I don't want to be in a weird flop spot deep... Also my hand is just the nuts. Let's slowplay these AA and triple up!

Flop: OK, I got AA, a gutshot and block bottom set. Pretty good hand, but maybe I don't want to get the money in just yet.

Turn: hmm I wonder why everyone is checking through? I guess our AA are good.

River: OK board paired, perfect I'm going to valuebet these trips for pot. Who cares if we run into a flush or straight? We gotta have the best hand. Maybe some idiot will call with worse trips or a Q or KK or something random.

After the hand: Damn, that mofo had a fullhouse. How unlucky can I effin get!!!

Also, nice 3bet

i'd stay away from PP's 22-88 and play 99/TT when well connected. I wouldn't 3-bet this, potentially flat but its a lot better to not have a gap so 6678 flatting on BTN for sure.

You see similar things every ten hands at these stakes if you're paying attention. You don't have to understand what's going on, all you need to do is play as well as possible against their strategy. And if people are unusually attached to medium strength hands, 66xx pre and naked bottom two pair otf isn't really what you want to have in a big pot.

I didn't think this was deserving of its own thread, but here's another hand where you might think "what the hell were they thinking?"
Gave me quite a shock when I saw it
