double board PLO

hi,

I mainly play live nowadays, wish i had live tracker as i find myself going nuts time to time. Games are getting more and more swingy, as off-beat games are added in to the mix. The game that I find myself confused at lot, is weirdly PLO double board. PLO double plays just the same as regular PLO, but with an extra board that plays for half the pot. I.E you need to beat all opponents on BOTH boards to scoop.

This game plays 5-cards and...crazily enough hilo as well.

Cant say im too fond of the hilo option, as it restrict most of one's lines...how much action can one take with the nutlow on one board..?

But hilo aside, there is a lot to be said about double board, even equity seems much harder to calculate(not good with maths).

Would appreciate any useful insight,

Just sounds like a rake machine to me to be honest. Without serious studying of it (I'm sure there is a method to it, probably very complex with limited resources) I'd just avoid it like the plague

Wouldnt play. This too confusing, too many possibiliities. You can have 4 players each having one of the hi or lows that split the entire pot on 1/4 each. I also think you will get 0 volume per hour.

Imagine being the dealer in a full ring double board PLO hi-lo game. You'd have to be insanely quick or you'd deal a hand every half hour

The games are not raked, played 100-300BB deep. Dealers choice, so sitting out is not an option, just wanted some help on the maths or if you guys had any other thoughts. To simplify, lets assume it is only PLO on two boards.

One applicable consideration is from hilo, that one should not commit too much chips without a scoop possibility or a non-unique nut(as in nut straight for risk of 1/4) on one board only. This translates into situations where one folds top set on one board due to lack of viable hands on the other board..conversely the same hand can be played fast if one has the read that the person who is presumably playing the other board cant stand the heat..

In order to get some feedback, here is a scenario:

hero on button called PFR after a limper to get 3B from BB..PFR, limper and hero calls.

first flop KT4 rainbow
second flop 962 two hearts

lets say everybody is 300BB deep and all bets and raises are 70%-fullpot, BB bets pot, PFR raises, limper folds..

Hero KK75(bdfld)...does one shove here?
or
hero 99QTdoublesuited to the first flop...how about this one?
or
hero KT78hearts...

All of them are weird, as 3bettor skews to high-wrap with or without hearts, and the PRF is looking more weighted to the second flop..

I do have some notion how to play it, based mainly on player ranges, but have no empirical way to calculate equity and thus im left in lala-land..praying that im playing decent..

Any input much appreciated.

This si rdicolous. How on earth should one connect with both boards when you only use one deck. The probability of having hit both goes down dramatically. Eg: Having AAxx you flop Topset 11% of the time. Now only 1 ace left = 6% chance to hit another. Chance of flopping 2 sets at a time. 0.7 %.

Conclusion: You can basically play only the very strongest of rundowns, no set mining, polarized hands become worthless. And even JT89ds gets in trouble when you flop JT on then one board and flop a wrap on the other, you block yourself 2 outs bc of the other board.

To Disharmonist,
I totally agree with you, but I can not decline playing another players round, all i can do is play as well as i can.

A rule of thumb, im shoving all hands(if possible) at 35-45% separate equity on BOTH boards..dont know if that is good or not..

Lots of games out there, not only PLO and NL. I would like to know as much as i can before i donk off too much:)
