I think generally in these player pools players are quite capped when they just flat the flop and turn on that type of board/runout, so I think from an exploitative perspective you have a good opportunity to take down the pot with a river bluff. Our blockers to missed draws are pretty unfortunate, but for the reasons previously stated along with this hand being at the bottom of your range I like a river barrel.
Against aggressive players a turn checkraise might be a good alternative.
Yeah, that's not a bad spot to consider that to help balance our checking range in that situation as well.
With your hand on this river, I would give up since your hand is the worst hand to bluff. Fish doesn't care whether his range is capped or not. If you didn't have diamond flushdraw, then yeah I would play the same.
Decent argument here as our blockers are pretty bad. To me, it's not so much about fish knowing whether they are capped or not, but more so hero knowing that the fish is often super capped and will overfold. Yes, fish will often overcall with weak combos, but they also will possibly fold close to their whole range on the river as well if they are capped to one pair in this spot. I agree that having the wrap and not blocking diamonds would make it a better bluff of course. It's not a spot that maybe has to be a 100% frequency bluff on the river as well. We may have enough other combos to bluff with to where we can give up with this one sometimes since it does hold all the blockers that we don't want to have.
I think we can bet a little smaller on the river. We aren't trying to bluff him off any made hands if he's a fish. So really we're just trying to take him off A or Kxxx diamond draws which will fold to smaller bets and that way we save when we get called by his sets and stubborn 2pair hands.
This is a good exploitative thought IMO. In theory I think we have to bet larger since we should be pretty polarized, but it makes sense against a fish to size down and risk less to get his known weak range to fold.
Has anybody mentioned checking on the flop yet?
I think you can argue that. It's not a flop that hits our range that hard, so we likely aren't betting much in theory. If we do bet though this hand makes sense to me pushing a lot of equity. Could mix in naked nut FD's with overs or wraps without FD's to balance our checking range while betting this combo and wraps plus pairs in this spot.
looks good to me, no showdown value and villain could have lots of hands (chasing draw but has pair) that will fold to the river bet. also you would think that most of his strong made hands raise flop or turn.
I don't think this is a river bet, I can see check/call turn even and give up on the river. Our 3 diamonds heavily blocks villains flush draws. On the flop we rep an over pair, wrap and or flush draws. Only the over pair hit and then only if we have AA. This means we have a very narrow value range. The A on the turn may let us get a free card.
I'm not sure if betting the flop into 3 villains is right, maybe it is, since we may crush this flop. We don't wanna get raised, so that's 1 reason to check flop. Betting flop is good if we're alone with the flush draw but on the river it's very bad.
In summary: flop I don't know, on the turn I like check/call (if necessary) and on the river I would give up.
I wouldn't bet river here. Without knowing any specifics of villains fishiness, I think sets and two pair are still in her range when she calls the flop. With SPR=20 on a board this dynamic I would expect some sets, esp w/out redraws, to pot control in position. We dont have blockers to made hands, do have a third diamond and her nut flush draws hit at least top pair on the turn which leads me to giving up.
