To play 200PLO, I would want at least $10,000, probably closer to $20,000 if you aren't willing to move down during a downswing/are mass-multi tabling.
Hi. Was reading some older posts of yours on micro PLO br recommending 35 buy-ins if willing to drop.
Do you feel the competition at 1/2 on say bovada warrants your 50-100 buy-in recommendation?
My dream is to be a PLO specialist. I have been studying hard but only joined recently so forgive a possibly redundant q....
Do u feel it is worth it to play 1/2 when I should really just grind limit HE until I have the required BR for 2/4? I've heard 2/4is the first limit where the rake comes WAY down. Do I really need 40k to play that limit on such a soft site?
As for starting at 2/4, I think that might be a tad high. It's all well and good wanting to be a PLO specialist and having studied hard, but honestly until you've actually sat down and played some hands we can't really know if you'll be any good. Therefore I would wanna start a little lower and move up if things go well. That said, it's your money so if you feel comfortable starting at 2/4, go for it - just be aware that you may pay through the nose for your tuition.
thanks man! You don't have to respond so quick I appreciate that! just upgraded to $100 membership..
the membership is honestly the only tuition ill prolly pay. I have the roll to play 1/2 but will only watch and study videos rather than play.
I feel that the rake point in plo is at 2/4 therefore a 2/4 specialist playing essentially the same player pool as 1/2 would make 4X rather than 2X?
hate to pull back the curtain but we both know bovada is way softer than stars for plo esp
what's your winrate? what's your standard deviation? get those numbers and plug them into a variance simulator and decide what you consider enough
thanks tom for such a clear unswer, im also interested in deferent things about playing PLO 200, e.g what is preferable stop loss point in terms of buy ins, as well as what is the good win rate at PLO 200 and if u write other advices too it would be apriciated. thack u in advance.
for me HU game is much more profitable than 6 max game (i mean PLO) but i also want to master in 6 max plo games as well and searching for coach can i have coach on this site to do some lessons ?
Hi there, here is my 2 cents (add that to your bankroll hahaehrherh). OK behave, back on topic:
Bankroll management is a tricky subject. I've listened to a lot of players talk about it in Podcasts, interviews, I've read articles about it and managed my own poker bankroll for 4+ years (Poker is all I do); although in MTT's and not Cash games, however my conclusion from all the research/experience is that there is no right or wrong answer as it is unique to every individual; their personal situation and needs; their short and long term goals; and their level of "risk tolerance".
One point I recently heard that stuck with me, is that a lot of the big name players are very flexible with their bankrolls so that if an opportunity comes (e.g. a weak player/table at a higher stake is available); they are able to take it and risk only a % of their roll, aware that if it goes bad they can still play in their "bread and butter" games, but if it goes well have an opportunity to significantly increase their roll. They ensure that the way they manage their bankroll works to their strengths.
They also state how important it is to always learn while you are playing and say that a good way to do this is by taking shots at levels that are above your comfort zone (if you have one, poker is just poker to me) and regardless of the result to consider it a learning experience (2 birds with one stone;))
I noticed you want to play mid stakes PLO 6 Max and NL HU games simultaneously, that sounds like quite a challenge....
How many tables are you intending to play at a time? Have you done this before or have any proven results ? What Poker experience do you have? What are your Poker ambitions and how does your bankroll plan align with them and your life? (I'm not asking you these questions; I'm saying ask yourself these questions to help determine what amount you feel you need for your bankroll and a way to manage the bankroll that works for you).
I'd recommend you play one game type at a time and to focus your energy on improving that one game unless you are very experienced / a proven winner.
Hope this helps, just writing it has helped me :)
Highly recommend playing 200 PLO to start. It is such a high variance game that you can easily go on a 30 buy in downswing most PLO hands are 60/40 equity once it gets all in and we can be on the wrong side of that easily. Taking a 3 buy in shot is always good, then you will know what to expect from apponents at 400 PLO once you move up. Good luck!
