Bankroll Management

Hi Guys,

So playing PLO Zoom on stars want advice on bankroll management.

I want to be fairly aggressive although I do understand they game can be massively swingy, so here is my proposal -

PLO5 - $0 - $100
PLO10 - $100 - $250 (back to PLO5 if I fall below $70)
PLO20 - $250 - $700 (back to PLO10 if I fall below $180)

Any thoughts would be great.

Thanks

Jason

Hey Bluegirl1983,

Bankroll Managment always depends on your current situation.
If you can replenish your Bankroll u need way less bankroll requirements than if you can't do that.

For me personally I find it pretty hard to move down limit once I lose so I need way more Buyins than someone else.

Also with this kind of Bankrollmanagment u are really banking on shorttime variance. U are basically already taking shots at 10 Stacks for the higher limit.
10 Stacks is like nothing in PLO so if you want to be aggressive rather than suicidal with your bankroll I would recommend having at least 30-40 Buyins for the higher limit until you take a shot.

Hi,

Thanks for your response I'm kinda banking on running extremely well when I take shots at the higher levels if I don't then I will just drop back down and start again. I think maybe I will need more buy ins to take shots at the higher levels as i can imagine the variance will be more.

Will see how it goes hopefully I will run hot!!

I would recommend having more than 20BI before moving up stakes, at least 30BI. I currently use a 60BI and 10BI shot taking. This works out at: $300 + $100 allows me to play PLO5 and shot take at PLO10, I use all 10BI at 10PLO if I need to and then when I have, $600+$250 I will shot take at PLO25.

Hi.
I am borrowing this thread for a question regarding bankroll management.

What is you rule when you are taking shots and it goes wrong? When do you drop down in limits? After losing 10BIs?
I've had 100BIs for PLO10 several times and spewed most of my roll away when taking shots at PLO25.
I am clearly a mental game fish at PLO25 but I don't mind losing at PLO10.

It all depends on how aggressive you want to be and if you can afford to loose the best part of your bank roll. Looking at the posts about I'm going to grind PLO5 till I'm at $150 then take a shot with 5bi at PLO10. I'm only 2 tabling zoom and paying plenty of attention and note taking so I'm not spewing off a lot so 5bi shot should be ok. I drop down to PLO5 if I fall back below $100 as this gives me enough roll to work back up to $150 and take another shot.

Hope this helps

Also as mentioned in the posts above the higher the limit the more BIs you should give yourself. I don't think there is much difference in player quality between PLO5 and PLO10 so hopefully I will run ok and it will work out.

Thanks for the reply.

Sounds like you have a solid plan for bankroll management. I will need one as well.
I agree that the player pool in PLO5 and PLO10 isn't that much different. I noticed slight difference when I played PLO25 though. Mainly that there are more regs and games are a little nittier.

I have a pretty aggressive playing style and can drop down 10BIs in a session pretty fast if things go wrong. I probably should take another shot at PLO25 around 1250$ and drop down if I lose 10BIs.

Good luck with your grind, Jason!

I personally use quite nitty BR management. I always want to have 100 BIs for previous level and additional 10 BIs for the new one. What that means: I'm playing PLO 10 now and I have 900 $ [(500 $ previous level) + (at least 100 $ this level)]. When I hit 1250 $ I'll take a shot at PLO 25. And if I hit 1000 $ I'll go back to PLO 10.
I think if you are learning the game you need quite a bit BIs even for micros. It's also important you feel comfortable playing with set amount of BIs and aren't afraid of particular plays because of few money in the account.
