Awkward 3bet pot situation vs. a tough reg. Lines?

BB: $600 (Hero)
UTG: $459
HJ: $730.56
CO: $633.36
BN: $600
SB: $314.70
Preflop ($9.00) (6 Players)
Hero was dealt A 6 J Q
UTG folds, HJ folds, CO folds, BN raises to $12, SB folds, Hero raises to $39, BN calls $27
Flop ($87.00) 9 Q 2 (2 Players)
Hero checks, BN checks
Turn ($87.00) 9 Q 2 5 (2 Players)
Hero checks, BN bets $54
Villain is Volanthn and for anyone who plays mid/high stakes should know he's a very solid winning player.

His button steal is 70% thus the 3 ball. On flop I feel like this is a decent hand to check/decide. I think its a bit light to bet/call this and def too strong to bet/fold. Also if we bet here and get called there is a ton of turn he'd have to check and potentially give up on. My move now is to check/decide possibly c/shove vs. villain who light stabs. thoughts?

Once the flop goes check/check and the turn bricks its pretty often we have the best hand. We could bet here and we will most likely get called but on various rivers we will have a tough decision.

Anyone feel like a check raise is ok here as well? Before I posted the hand I felt like that could be a play but as I'm writing out the post I feel like that 5 isn't a card he will stab often so in hindsight I feel like a bet here is best followed by a river decision.

Welcome comments on all streets!

Hmmm...it is one of those hand with 35% vs a stack off range, so I understand what you are thinking. However, I think the hand plays so poorly on later streets that I would just go ahead and make my profitable cbet (I would check other types of hands). I he shoves I think you have to fold, but you have a Q blocker so it is not happening that often.

On the turn I would bet and possibly bluff some rivers and check/decide on others.

yea i also think a cbet is best here to take down the pot...
c/shipping the flop is pretty light and i think you have to have some history to make this a profitable play...
on the turn i also like a bet since its kind of a good card (at least its not a bad card ^^) to make him fold hands that have like 30% against us and if the river bricks or a diamond comes id bet, with a hearts i like c/folding

btw i personally wouldnt 3bet this hand because its so tough to play oop with such a marginal hand against a good opponent...

@Hurricane562 I am on par with your comment about 3b pre with this. Balancing is okay, but this is the ideal spot for him to make this play vs. your 3b range. Seems rather exploitable, IMO.
