aa single raised pot, awkward turn spot

HJ: mythar: $886
CO: LuckyDuy: $378
BN: Bodhiisattva: $175
SB: Jamie_KK: $380
BB: mervo: $323.50
UTG: hero: $1290.50
Preflop ($15.00) (6 Players)
hero was dealt 7 A A 9
hero raises to $22.50, mythar folds, LuckyDuy calls $22.50, Bodhiisattva folds, Jamie_KK calls $17.50, mervo folds
Flop ($77.50) K 4 7 (3 Players)
Jamie_KK checks, hero bets $50, LuckyDuy calls $50, Jamie_KK folds
Turn ($177.50) Q (2 Players)

Stacks are awkward on turn. Cant figure out the right play here. C/f seems weak but I'm never bet getting it in in good shape. With these stack sizes, bet folding isn't an option imo.

Thoughts?

thanks

Probably just pot/call w/ spr 1.7.  The Q isn't a great turn, but I feel like when we check he just gains way too much of an advantage in terms of how he can play his range, ie: take free cards when he wants, jam when he wants.  When we bet, we can potentially get him to fold hands w/ high 30, low 40 vs our exact hand, which is great for us, and the times we get it in vs his range, while were probably not a favorite, we should make up for that with the number of immediate turn folds we gain and the overlay we're getting when jammed on.

If you find him jamming alot, then bet hands like Kx with overs to 4 and 7, or Kx with straight draw to get in. Hands like that would normally check but play alot better than AA vs a get in range. You don't have any real outs here beside's Ax getting it in bad.

It's just whether the times you steal the equity of a hand that can't call or jam like 456, 567 outweights the times you get it in bad as the poster above mentioned. This comes up all the time vs shortstackers.

Yeah, I'm completely w/ Overbet56 here, pot/calling is the play. Whilst you probably won't get it in good all that often, you will pick up the pot with a good frequency. Considering you're effectively risking 30bbs to win almost 20, you really don't need much fold equity to make this a clear winning play. In short games, it's usually a good play to keep up the aggression even when you don't do well versus a getting it in range because the fold equity will allow you to show a strong profit.

The other thing I'd like to mention is your preflop sizing. Personally, I prefer to 3x UTG in shallow games because 1) we still don't want to massively invite people to play IP against us and 2) we should have a strong range so might as well push that equity edge. Also, HJ is deeper with us which should further incentivize us to play deeper. I know a lot of people size as you did short though so it's probs fine.

Overall though, so long as you pot/call turn I'm find w/ how this hand is played.

ok thanks guys

I did pot/call turn and ran into kk but thats not really important. I was pretty much thinking the same as you guys but wanted to make sure.

That's actually a very significant part of his range given preflop, so I'm not surprised.  It's just so brutal when you can't bink your A isn't it!
