9 Handed PLO 2-5
Have a general question that probably has many obvious answers, but would really enjoy getting some general input and responses.
I play a 9-10 handed 2-5 PLO game here in New York. The predominant makeup of the players is very loose. I think most players are there to gamble but as I said, the game is extremely loose with roughly half or a little more than half players seeing the flop. I'm not sure if I've been successful because of luck or not and was just curious about a general strategy for 9-handed PLO. 6 handed is what I used to play, but I'm curious as to the appropriate playing style for winning players at a 9-10 handed Very loose PLO game. I'm afraid to label the players as aggressive but the pots are big.

To be simplistic, try to get into pots cheap with hands which make the nuts and then just ram and jam when you flop well. It's not particularly enjoyable or creative as a strategy, but in super loose games, it should do very well.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll take this approach as you say and try to smash. A lot of what I have noticed is making good reads and not putting yourself in 'trouble' spots. I try to draw to the nuts and be very weary of paired boards.
There is basically no playability in live full ring. Its super tough to isolate, so you really have to pick your 3 and 4 betting spots very carefully. Develop a limping range as well.
Tight but aggressive is the way to go. And I mean aggressive when you have premium holdings.
"If it's good enough to call you gotta be in there raising, all right. I mean tight but aggressive, and I do mean aggressive. That's your style, Professor. I mean you gotta ...you gotta think of it as a war."
Thanks for the response. What should be my limping range? I aim for connecting hands but with high flush draw possibilities. I'm pretty cautious and make sure I have nut flush hands. There is so much calling preflop that sometimes it becomes a crap shoot and I just try to get it in with the best of it.
Yeah, I see myself getting into trouble and stuck a little early when I limp with trash and feel priced in with only suited aces because 5 or 6 people already called a raise. I'm playing again late tonight and will take your advice along with me. I want to know that I'm making right decisions and haven't just been running well. Thank you Tom.
Tom i cant believe that you use the words "idiots" to talk about other players ... specially being a part of the team of runitonce you show a great deal of disrespect ... both to the persons you insult, to the team, to us and to you ... the words we use define us
Also, as I suppose it relates to this topic, I don't respect many of my opponents as poker players.* I believe this is one of the biggest mistakes made by many people in games which are full of weaker opposition (as nearly all low-stakes live and online games are) as they miss opportunities to exploit their competition by assuming a level of competency that simply isn't present. I prefer, until proven otherwise, to assign a level of respect equal to the skill I would expect of the average participant in a game. If we're talking about a 2/5 live game in which 5-6 people see every flop, that level of respect is, as evidenced by my use of the word "idiot," very low.
*This says nothing of them as people or outside a poker scenario. However, once you are at a table I couldn't care less about anything other than how you play and, if you're bad, I see no value in respecting your game. In this setting, no matter the many excellent attributes a person has, they are nothing more than money to be taken.
Judging by the definition, I found Tom's choice of words rather spot on there. Perhaps he could have been a bit more unconventional and gone with chowderhead or my personal favorite, mouth-breather, but I don't think you can argue that taking the standard route and using idiot was a fundamental mistake :)

I like "knuckle-dragger".
I saw no problem with Tom's response. Shouldn't take it so personally. Should be more concerned with the valuable information he provides as opposed to something as trivial as 'poor' word choice. Next Hand.
What should I be raising preflop? What should I be 3 betting? Raising late finds a lot of callers even if a late position pot size bet is $100. There are almost always a lot of callers. I've been playing tight and been successful, but I'd like to mix up my play a little more. Or should I just keep the conservative strategy?
If something is working for you, keep doing that :)
When I play a solid ABC totally exploitable strategy at my local casino, I feel like 'how can these guys not see what I'm doing?' and I feel like I'm not playing 'proper poker' in a sense that it's so easy to counter what I'm doing.
But it worked for me and I'll keep doing that until it stops generating winning, in which case I'll change my strategy.
How is your success story going?
For that kind of game I would suggest you the book https://www.amazon.com/Secrets-Professional-Pot-Limit-Omaha-Online/dp/1904468306
especially if you do not have that much PLO experience.
Easy strategy
but you need to be able to play short stack in your games.
Ultra tight is the only way to survive in full ring PLO.
