$50 plo AKT9sss flopped top two and villain donks into us

SB: $191.54
BB: $50
UTG: $50.50
HJ: $47.75
CO: $97.74
BN: $76.97 (Hero)
CO was a huge station with 50/3/0; both blinds were kind of nondescript.
Preflop ($0.75) (6 Players)
Hero was dealt 9 T K A
UTG folds, HJ folds, CO calls $0.50, Hero raises to $2.25, SB folds, BB calls $1.75, CO calls $1.75
CO was limping a ton and I didn't expect the blinds to open 4b so often,, so this seemed an easy iso raise.
Flop ($7.00) T 6 A (3 Players)
BB checks, CO bets $5, Hero calls $5, BB folds
Kind of weird, I mean he could have called w/ AA or TT or 9876, but given how passive he is, I just found it really weird that he donks into me on this flop. If anything, this is a good flop for my range so he should expect me to c-bet very often.

I didn't think raising here would do any good because vs his gii range we're not in a good shape, especially with no redraw.
Turn ($17.00) T 6 A 4 (2 Players)
CO bets $16.24, Hero calls $16.24
Again pretty weird, but I couldn't really find a fold. Eh.
River ($49.48) T 6 A 4 9 (2 Players)
CO bets $23.50, Hero calls $23.50

987 got there, if he indeed led twice with that.  That aside he can be block betting with AT/A6/maybe A9, and all sets.  I just didn't think he has enough bluffs here, but at the same time we can't be beat all that often.

Thoughts?

Hmm. I hate those spots. You block AA and TT and some AA will raise pre. Thing is that he def can do this with A6/T6 or, as you said, wraps. If we were 100bb deep I'd prolly go ahead and shove turn.
150bb deep I'm not too sure anymore. It's quite the raise OTT. Since there's no FD OTT I think calling and hoping for him to slow down on rivers has some merit.
When he shoves the 9-river he shud be very polarized to 78 and complete spazzes. Judging if he is spazzy enough to do that (give your description, I don't think so) would make my decision, so I'd prolly make a very sad fold here.

I'm still kinda new to PLO and still can't beat 25 so take it for what it's worth. I think in a vacuum I don't think a station passive type player would play A6 or T6 this way. On the river we're beat by everything else he might have like sets, 789 etc. Turn I feel like it's OK at best to call but I fold river I think. I don't feel like a passive station would take the same line with bluffs by the river, hands like KQJx.

its close, but vs station we should start looking for a fold at certain moment. slatting otf is default, untill he's donk% is over 15 or he's donk\folding some.

PSB on the turn from passive player rarely mean some draws. I think we can get away w\ fold here, though, its close

having J insteal of nine I would shove on flop or turn probably

Agree on folding OTT. Stations make very few betting mistakes in comparison to calling mistakes. Often the bet size represents their hand strength or confidence about their hand. That's why I don't think villain has a straight OTR. It comes down to if he plays A6 like this or just AT or better imho.

Why shove holding a J instead of a nine?  Does the added gutshot + possibility of hitting two pair better than AT give us that much more equity?

arukidinme 11 years, 4 months ago

yea J or Q should give us a lot more equity because we now improve on any J,Q,K,A (w/6 nut outs). As is we have the two nut aces and a K which improves us to a non nut hand (lose to a straight).

I woul be floating the flop looking to improve on the turn, when he fires big again I just assume that I am going to have to go wiht it so I either ship or fold.  Against a passive player I just give it up at this point.

I agree with aruk! If his other stats are close to his preflop stats (being very passive) i dont really see us calling such a big bet on the turn: Flop seems standard and i would call turn against lots of ppl but not huge stations.

I think we can almost narrow his range to ATxx,sets and maybe A6xx hands and we cant really gii good against that range, so fold OTT i would say.

I do not see our hand in front of this very turn not, since it is a passive player betando strong. I give call flop and fold turn.
