5 areas that make the most money in PLO
Hey guys I am in the middle of reading:
"The Cambridge Handbook of Expertise and Expert Performace" K. Anders Ericsson et.al
and
"Practice Perfect..." Doug Lemov et.al
to write an article and as a means of developing an optimal learning model whose focus rests on deliberate practice in poker.
What I need are players top 5 areas of PLO that they think makes them the most money.
e.g. playing 3b pots, good pre-flop hand selection,
I just need a base to work from.
If you could help that would be awesome

Hi,
my suggestions what makes a good winning player are,
1)Balanced bluff / value range
2) Knowing your oponents tendencies and ranges
3)having postflopskills (betsizing, checkraising, floating etc.)
4)having preflopskills (handselection, 3 betting ,4 betting etc.)
5)tiltcontroll
Hans
I guess my list would be
1. playing your button(position) as much as possible
2. defending your blinds properly as well as attacking players who don't
3. isolating or getting into pots with fish as much as possible
4. being able to lay down big hands (money saved is money earned)
5. avoiding tilt or the urge to take -ev gambles in a high variance game
Great thanks so far :)
1) game selection
2) hand selection
3) position
4)reading board texture
4) tilting never
1) good mathematical and logical understanding including some basic psychological skills
2) willing to improve ang give your best in something you love and enjoy at
3) quick adoption in new situations = high inteligence
4) capability to be always 1 step in front opponent(s): technical tools, new models of learning, fast recover from tilt, knowing your skill level as well as skill level of your opponent(s) (see 2) )
5) setting concrete goals in fixed time upon realistic expectations (see 4) ) + having discipline and persistence
1) Finding tables with worse players than me :)
2) Maximising quality and quantity of informations for the decisions
3) Managing my A-Game during the session
4) construct profitable situations with good preflop play
5) exploid weaknesses properly
1-5) Waiting for aces
This is so true.
nitty but works
In all seriousness my strategy in most games could be summed up as, "Wait until you have a really good hand, then bet a lot." This will serve you well at least up to .25/.5 online and 5/10 live.
great advise :)
Cool well I've had loads of feedback so thanks guys. I'll let you all know when the article is finished. It won't be until the new year but it should hopefully be pretty good :)
1. Game Selection
2. Separating your mind from NL, realizing it is a different game.
3. Realizing who the weakest players are and using it to your advantage.
4. Bet tell reading, and postflop skills.
5. Isolation of poor players.
