3bet pot vs super wide bt opener, river trips villian stacks off vs value bet

Blinds: $0.25/$0.50 (4 Players) BN: $265.64
SB: $94.50
BB: $100.00 (Hero)
CO: $101.87
Preflop ($0.75) Hero is BB with A T 5 Q
CO folds, BN raises to $1.75, SB folds, Hero raises to $5.50, BN calls $3.75
Flop ($11.25) 4 9 2
Hero bets $7.00, BN calls $7.00
Turn ($25.25) 4 9 2 5
Hero bets $16.50, BN calls $16.50
River ($58.25) 4 9 2 5 5
Hero bets $51.00, BN raises to $102.00

so here on the river i thought i was value betting vs this guy but apparently he choose diffrent? so is this a clear snap call for me? or should ive played it diffrentley?
here are my thougth process:
I bet flop because first and foremost i flopped decent and i didnt what to C/C since his have been potting almost allways when checked to
On turn when i paired my five i thougth i could bet again because once again he could do some funky stuff here and i did expect him to fold out the bottom off his Calling range and Kx of spades, maybe also some random A high naked flushdraws.
So when river brings the 5 and give me trips i thougth it was a pretty easy value bet since i have one ace and theres a less chance he could have the small straight, and i thougth that he maybe could hero call with some AAxx with missed flush Draws and maybe some shitty two pair.

Is my thougth process wrong, why then? please explain

thanks for taking your time!
